Obsessive counting, binging and worrying

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone, will start out with current stats:

Age: 16.5

Sex: Male

Height: 159cm

Weight: 56kg

Now i joined this site and started counting calories about 3 months ago when i was at 60kg, despite not being overweight i did not feel healthy.

Before coming to this realisation i would eat ALOT of fast food. Most of the time i would skip brekfast and eat junk for lunch such as wedges, fast food after school such as maccas and meat for tea such as steak\chicken, not to mention ALOT of soda.

Since joining i now eat brekfast everyday and pack a lunch consisting of a roll, apple and other snacks for throughout my day, i no longer eat Fast food on a regular basis, in fact i barely eat it at all.

Coupled with a gym routine i limited my calories to 1700 a day and got down to as low as 53kg which i decided i was good with, my problem is since deciding to maintain i cant stop obsessing about calories and this obsession leads to overeating when im not even hungry, weather its due to recent stress in my family (mum is in hospital) or if its the sudden upping of calories i dont know but i really just want to stop counting calories all together, ive already put on 2\3kg's and am trying now to keep my weight where it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,

Rhys

stop counting calories altogether as it will be better for your health.i to use to get very obsessed like an ocd with calories and the counting and i would binge by the guilty and stressed feeling i would get if i had gone over my calorie limit that day or if i was eating an un-known calorie food.and if your scared your put on weight if you stop counting then just weigh yourself once a week like i do and if you see a little gain then dont worry bout it as its not the end of the world but if it carrys on then just cut down on portions and snacks. your notice your over eating habits will go since you stop counting as it worked for me then im sure it would help you

I can relate to this, I often feel I pay an unhealthy amount of attention to what I'm eating! This causes me to have very bad 'down days' when I feel completely depressed after a bad day's eating, even though my weight isn't effected!

I'd go with misundastod on this one, you know how to eat healthily, try not to count for a while and just keep an eye on your weight. And get a hobby or distraction!
