Obsessive hobbies, anyone? (Link to pics of mine)

Thought you guys might get a kick out of the post I made on a My Little Pony board.  Yep, that's right, I collect My Little Pony items from the 80s.  Not only do I collect them, I have an entire room of them.  Here's a link to the pics I posted:

[edit]

So, anyone else have any strange, obsessive hobbies that not many people understand?  I know we've had hobby threads before, but I've not shared the extent of mine with pictures...  :)

Woot! And I wasn't even challenging! :) Just being honest! :D
...

When I saw the title, I was about to come on this thread and mention how I can get a bit obsessive about tinkering with the hardware in my home PC.

When I saw the pictures, I realized I was way outclassed in the category of "obsessive hobbies".  :P
That is a serious MLP collection. I would have died if I saw that 15 years ago!!!

My friend does that with Strawbwrry Shortcake....it is a whole room of it.
I collect dvds, too, like someone else said. I've just started collection though so my collection isn't huge or anything. I particularly like collecting indie films and foreign films. They're fun. I also collect random things from thrift/vintage stores... like 70s dishes. haha
oh ali me too!!! actually that's what Travis and I wanted to do as our wedding theme originally... all like 70's cheesy vintage and our plates would all be those brown, mustard yellow and green rounded corner plates with like, huge ugly birds or mushrooms in them!
OH.......... MY......... GOD
Wow, that's a lot of ponies!!!  I had some when I was little, but I have no idea what ever became of them.

I collect rocks and fossils.  I have boxes and boxes of them.  I even have some of the less spectacular ones displayed in my garden.  I don't want anyone to steal them or have them out in the weather, so I put the not-so-great ones outside.    My prized ones are stashed in the house.  Isn't that bad?

Watergirl, please tell me you do this, too!  I don't want to look weird.  It's a geology thing...really!
hahaha Janelle... I've got some of the most awesome diner coffee cups and this 70s plastic plates with huge orange and brown flowers on them... tis amazing.
oh, god, jenn, i forgot about the plushy ponies. how could i forget? i wonder if my plushy Cotton Candy is stil next to my big ol' box of comics in my parents' garage?  I seriously need to go rescue my comics before somebody throws those away. I don't think anyone in my folks' house care that in some torn, stained piece of newsprint not 100 yards away Gwen's hand is slipping out of Peter Parker's as the Black Cat dies for the *first* time.... hm, what else is out there? the first comic with Rogue in it...  they're all catalogued and in a box, but they're not in sleeves or anything...

what else... um, i never had the cash to collect Crack: the Addiction (coughcough imean Magic) or any of the other CCGs, but I have a stupid big section of RPG sourcebooks, starting with ADnD (no, I don't have the original shelf game that became D&D, but I know someone who does and I've played it)

Actually, right now I'm collecting other people's lives.  photos, notes and shopping lists that I find on the sidewalk fascinate me.

So no obsessive hobbies.  I guess the SCA counts as my "strange" one, though.
OMG Jenn, that is so fantastic. When I was little I had about 50 my little ponies. My Dad said he kept them and they are stored away. I?ve asked for them about 100 times and he has yet to produce. How did you get your hands on all those?? E-bay?? I would love to pick up a few. It just brings me back to my childhood. Thanks for sharing those pics. That is so awesome.
Holy moly... that is a serious MLP collection.

Hubby and I collect shot glasses and we have a pretty extensive DVD collection.  Usually anytime a friend or relative travels we ask them to grab us a shot glass or two.  We haven't added much to the DVD collection recently.  Although I did just by Season 2 of Lost.

Since we just moved I know I wrapped up just over 200 shot glasses.  Don't have an exact count because I stopped at 200 and I know some are duplicates.
someone need to contact the Humane Society - there are too many ponies being held captive in that room... :D
I'm way too half-assed about collections - I collected postcards as a kid but then I lost them and gave up.  I collected coins for about a week but my sister's collection was better so I quit.  In my earlier "adult" years (20-24) I collected antique coffee cups but then I realized I never used them, not many dinner parties at that age unless you count beer and pizza night.  So I finally gave those up.

You might say that I collect books in that I keep every book I buy with the exception of cheesy paperbacks.  I have tons of books.
i do the exact same thing cecily, you rock dork. i got boxes of rocks (still packed) since i just moved. crappy samples go in yard, better ones go in the house, and my best ones are here with me, in my office.
Now I know where the Rainbow comes from as I am driving into St LOUIS.  :)  Girl that is AWESOME!!!!!!!

I collect barbies.  But havent really added to the collection in the last couple of years.
Wow what a room!

I collect too much of my kids schoolwork or pictures, or awards, I just keep too much of it sometimes.  I've now been better about it and only keep selected items now.  I do have a collection of pics and papers for each of them that I'm going to make a scrapbook of their entire school years when they graduate from highschool...so I do have a goal for some of it!
Wow, that's amazing.. My daughter would destroy that room in a matter of 1 minute..lol, she loves MLP's but she doesn't have alot of them right now, she is only 2..
Here's a link showing pictures of what I collect

http://images.google.com/images?q=fiestaware% 20collections&hl=en&lr=&sa=N& tab=wi

Fiestaware!  I have many vintage pieces and lots of the newer, post 1980 reissue place settings and such.  I love the bright colors and interesting shapes.  Right now I've stopped collecting and I'm looking to sell.  Anybody interested?
I have too many obsessive collections and not enough room!  Some of the things I collect include toys, Chinese paper fans, those little chime balls you roll around in your hands, and the fortune papers out of fortune cookies.  Some nonmaterial things I fill my computer with include pictures, music, anime, and far more clothes and furniture than my Sims could ever use.  I also go through phases of obsessively singing karaoke, sewing plush dolls, and recording EVPs.  I do everything in spells, though, I think.  I'll collect one thing or do one hobby obsessively for a while until I burn myself out on that and move onto something else.  Sometimes I'll come back to something later, though.
