how do you keep occupied?
i need to be kept occupied so i don't obsess over food/weight loss again, or so i don't focus on the other negative things in life atm. usually i'm kept busy by hanging with my friends and boyfriend, at the gym or just going for walks.
sadly, i am grounded until friday, but still need to be kept occupied. so what are some things you do indoors that keep you occupied?
I like to read or watch movies.
practice piano, have an office marathon with my brother, take my dog for a walk, do crossword puzzles, get in the jacuzzi, etc etc. anything that's really comforting to me that prevents me from eating out of boredom or just sitting there thinking about what i want to eat tomorrow.
I'd like to know some other things to do too though; I have similar issues, Erica. And by the way, welcome back! It's very nice to see you on here again, and this time, you have such good intentions! =D Good luck!
You need to find a hobby...
I read, paint, draw, teach my dog a new trick, play with the cat, try to learn a new skill (usually I get ideas from the internet) like juggling, playing keyboard, yoga, putting my hair in a new style, reading things on "Howstuffworks.com"...
thanks guysss.
i thought i'd ask you guys for some new hobbies seeing as all my hobbies seem to revolve around diet/food somehow (planning what i'll eat, eating, cooking, baking, researching calories, etc) but now i have tons of ideas of what to do.
this is kinda nerdy; but i love playing video games. i just played some intense spongebob squarepants on ps2 :|

I love video games too... a really fun thing to do can be renting video games. It's super cheap (if you aren't renting new releases) and really fun because you get to try out all different sorts of games. See if there is a blockbuster or something near you!
This isn't an indoor activity but for later, when you're not grounded anymore... why don't you consider getting a job?
I got a job when I was 15 and had it all through high school and it made me feel amazingly independent and self confident, as well as giving me lots of spending money. It would definitely give you something non-food related to think about (just don't a job at Mcdonalds tho hehe) I worked at a veterinarian and loved getting to see and work with animals every day. :)
I would definately say that starting my new job was the most influencial thing in the start of my recovery. Working is my No.1 way of killing time and making me feel like I've done something with my day. Not only that, but I used to be so painfully shy and now I'm chatting away to customers like its nothing. Colleges can turn into best friends. Its an amazing experience which helps you grow so much and enriches your life. I also find it helps to see your work buddies eating "normally".. I don't know why, but I just find it encourages me to do it too. Plus it takes your mind off food and is extremely efficient at making the hours disappear.
A few months ago I got sacked from a job which I was absolutely in love with, and it broke me. That's when my ED got way out of hand. I found not having a job and trying to fill my day with simple things like walking the dog, doing puzzles etc.. really unfulfilling and it made me really depressed.
The only problem is that I'm quite obsessive and I'm a bit scared of having days off unless I have something planned like going shopping with my friends or something. I like being busy. I'm a bit of a work addict now. But never underestimate how good having a job makes you feel. I have 2 now, and I feel really happy for the first time in months. Sweetblea said "just don't a job at Mcdonalds tho" ... I don't know how you would be working with food.. but I actually work in Pizza Hut, in the kitchen! I was quite apprehensive about starting that job because i was worried that it might harm my recovery or that I might be tempted to binge on the toppings, or that I might just go insane from being surrounded by intense temptation. But it is actually completely fine. I actually find it empowering that I can work there and not have a problem with it!
i was half kidding with the McDonald's comment. whatever works for you.
Congrats cookie_love on your recovery and your new found happiness in life!
I knit to keep my hands occupied.
read the 'average american male.' good, good book
i got some hobbies. :)
reading, writing, singing, playing video games, playing solitaire on the computer, facebook, this website, drawing/coloring, watching tv, watching movies, going to the gym, running, going for walks, meditating, going to the park, playing bop-it extreme (don't ask), hanging out with friends, and probably more.
