Hi All,
I am intersted in participating in a weight loss challenge in October. I am hoping to hit my goal on November 1st!!! However, I keep missing all the posts and when I go to sign up its already closed!! When should I check back for the Oct challenge posts??
I can't join a September one, can I. I mean there are still like 18 days left and I have been doing well all month. He he....

I'm not sure about weight losss challenges sign up - but you can join the exercise challenge anytime.
Thanks for the offer. I just calculated the minutes I exercise for in a week, and on average its around 1900. So my total would be about 8000 for the month. Do you guys go that high? I count my walks after work as exercise too - and I do those 5 times a week, plus my gym session in the morning.
The exercise challene has a 3000 and over category that you would be included in (that is awesome by the way; the amount of exercise you do :).
It's not 8k, but it's not shabby either :)
Hopefully you join in!

Hi Kate -
Challenges rock! They can be so motivating.
I've noticed that most challenges start advertising during the last week of the month for the following month. Typically they stop accepting participants after the first week. Challenges are supposed to be on this forum only, but I've seen "sign up" threads started in the weight loss forums, and in the fitness forums too.
The first challenge I participated in was held in the weight loss forum (July - before the mods were trying to coral us over here in this forum). I loved it so much, that I felt like "giving back to the community" so I started my own weight loss challenge in August so we could all continue to support each other. I didn't want to be as strict as the other challenges with regards to rules about joining late, or not posting regularly, so I let people join and drop in and out whenever they wanted to. Big mistake. It became too difficult to manage, especially when I have the added feature of a map to maintain.
I continued the challenge into this month, and started enacting all the rules and regs I'd seen other challenge managers impliment, and it made my life a lot easier. I'd totally invite you to join in October, but alas - I must step down as map master because school starts up again and I won't have time to manage a challenge. You'll find one to join though - There are always a few to choose from, and they really are helpful.
Good luck!

I so can relate pixyz abut the maintaining of a challenge. I started the exercise challenge in Jan. by february I had to start enlisting volunteers to help - then I had to create a whole new acct with exercise challenge as the person just so the volunteers could update throughout the day instead of emailing me the updates. It can be real time consuming to get them started. I know if I didn't have the help of so many I would have disbanned the challenge months ago.
