I have been purposefully AVOIDING this story because from the get-go I knew this chick was NUTS and nothing but an attention-seeking hound. I noticed this online today however-- http://snafu-ed.blogspot.com/2009/03/suleman- to-get-new-home-247-assistance.html .
She is basically getting a 1/2 million $ home and 24/7 care for her 14 kids that would cost $135,000.00 PER MONTH. All of this is being "donated" (cough- taxpayers) to her of course. What an utterly whacked out society we have become to actually make this plastic surgery nightmare some sort of "celebrity". We seem to REWARD stupid behavior in this country. She should be put in an institution and the children should be put in CAPABLE AND STABLE hands in my opinion. What a circus freakshow.
I don't give a damn about her, personally I think she's made some very very selfish choices but I do give a damn about every one of those kids...it's all very sad really. I hope whatever happens in this situation those children are loved and taken care of whether its by their mother or someone else.

From personal experience (not me but people very very close to me) I know that people with messed up- and I mean messed up parents can turn out absolutely amazing.
I completely agree with Gwen- Octomom is definitely selfish and made horrible choices. I also think she has some severe mental problems. All I care about is that her kids are safe and cared for. I know that The DCFS trys to avoid taking children from their parents- obviously unless there is evidence of abuse. I think she honestly sees no wrong in what she has done, which is a problem, but I think she is probably a caring mom. Obviously she needs a lot of help, mentally and physically. The most important thing is the kids.
I'm curious, what do people think of the Duggar family?? They just had their 18th child. 18!!! I think this is totally messed up. Their kids seem like good, healthy kids, but I think they are completely isolated and I think it's unfair to have that many kids. There is no way each child gets the attention from the parents that they need and deserve.
We'll help the freakshow but leave the homeless and poor with no medical insurance or homes to suffer. But we'll spend all this money on a woman who brought it on herself. Wtf...
It makes me so so so soooo sad. So many more important things we can do with that money.

The law should make it a mandatory tube tied+snip surgeries after the 3rd child. Like seriously.
Cptbunny-- I agree with both of your posts above. I mean really--- there are RESPONSIBLE and committed families out there that have one or two children that they are busting hump working 3 honest jobs to support. I guess there is also an alarmingly increasing number of people living in tents these days as well. There are people who make all the right choices in life and never see this kind of reward. Those are the people that don't expect a "reward"! They are just well-balanced people with freaking integrity.
What the hell happened to dignity?? What happened to personal responsibility??? Our bleeding heart society has gone out of control. There are too many people out there with a false sense of entitlement. Just because you had 14 kids lady does NOT make you "special"!!

I'd prefer someone else too. It sounds harsh, but this lady is obviously very, very mentally disturbed. And in all honesty, HER children should not be anyone else's responsibility.
I just hope the babies receive the best care they can possibly get. From the sound of it, I think they will be in perfectly capable hands, but I wish there was some way to get the Ocotomom out of the scene.
Last I heard, she was thinking about having a reality show kinda like the couple who has 8 kids, but that's not going to happen because the babies are so fragile & susceptible to germs/diseases. Also, a second publicist is no longer working with her because the Octomom got too greedy. I don't know how true either of those things are though because you know how things can get twisted around.
The worst part is that she is passing on her (questionable) DNA. The next generation will contain more of Nadya Suleman than it should.
Oh tahiti, I can guarantee that she will eventually have some sort of show and then all of her big girl dreams will finally come true (sarcasm). Do you think that anyone in Hollywood actually cares about the fragility of her children? Really-- it's all about making money and exploitation.

One thing that has me curious....Even though she has denied it many times is if she is pretty much on welfare and can hardly afford these kids how did she have the money for cosmetic surgery? If she planned on all of these children maybe she should have saved her money for them instead of on her face. (She has admitted to only a breast reduction, but even still..Where did the money come from?)
silentdeadlyrose- I heard that Octomom sued the mental hospital she was working in because she was injured in a riot. The money she got for plastic surgery I'm assuming was gained from that settlement. A very good investment for someone so hell bent on being a parent, hmm?
It makes me sick that people are willing to donate to this attention glutton. I believe her kids should've been taken into more capable hands from the start.

Ive not followed this but now dont see any reports of taxpayer money - just a dispute of the seller realtor saying it was her dad buying versus her saying sold publicity is buying the house.
I'd complain about her attention mongering but since Im posting here, will pass on that ~
I cannot even stand to see it in the paper or on TV. She needs therapy, not kids. It makes me sick. If you cannot freaking support the kids you have don't have them.

For someone that has been "AVOIDING" the story, you certainly know a lot about it and ironically, have now brought it to the attention of others once again.
If the kids are being well cared for the fine, but honestly I'm over all the hoopla with her. It must be nice to be getting the house but honestly there in her area that price isn't a great place...just like in my home state it'd be average or below in my area. Here... that's a mansion on the green of a golf course or a Really nice beach house!
I feel bad for the taxpayers in her state, which include my cousins and aunts.
I agree with everything said in this thread except the manditory tubal for anyone with 3 kids... that would mean my amazing 4yr old wouldn't exist. We saved, spend carefully and honestly do a lot of budget work and my family is perfect. Sure some people think I'm insane with 4 kids, but it works for my family. Sure we'd have more money with less but life just wouldn't be the same without.

That doesn't even make sense to me. I worked at a mental hospital and when we were hired we all had to sign wavers saying if we were injured, we couldn't file a lawsuit suing the hospital. You know the risks you take when you work with that population.
Regardless... she's a freak. haha
