I have been purposefully AVOIDING this story because from the get-go I knew this chick was NUTS and nothing but an attention-seeking hound. I noticed this online today however-- http://snafu-ed.blogspot.com/2009/03/suleman- to-get-new-home-247-assistance.html .
She is basically getting a 1/2 million $ home and 24/7 care for her 14 kids that would cost $135,000.00 PER MONTH. All of this is being "donated" (cough- taxpayers) to her of course. What an utterly whacked out society we have become to actually make this plastic surgery nightmare some sort of "celebrity". We seem to REWARD stupid behavior in this country. She should be put in an institution and the children should be put in CAPABLE AND STABLE hands in my opinion. What a circus freakshow.

Do we have to call her octo-mom, though? It just creeps me out to say the name. :)
Lol! I actually like her name: Nadia.
It sounds pretty,imo. I hadn't ever heard it before octo-mom. =-P

For the record, the only information i possess about this woman has come from this site and from links to news sites provided in various posts on this site -- i have not tuned in to any programming about her
but yes, from what i've heard, i do find her behavior to be on the strange, at least unbalanced, possibly creepy, side
i don't, however, hold her children responsible for their mother's choices.
^Precisely. Poor innocent children/babies.
That would've been funnier phrased " i don't, however, hold her children responsible for their mother's creepy choices." :)
Hi enchantingimage-- yes, innocence is blessed. I don't promote, believe in or support the suffering of innocents whether they are adults, children or animals. I wouldn't want these children to just be thrown into foster care. I don't think they would be with their celebrity-type status though. They would be given to the best homes to live with the most deserving type of people. This is why I wish there was some sort of application process for people to have kids. That would do away with fears of over-population I'm sure.
I myself do not have kids and I'm 37. I've never wanted them and know that I'm not the type to want or need the extra responsibility such an important job entails.
I'm not trying to start a fight with anyone here either. An opinion is like a butthole ya know?? ![]()

What's ironic is that by exposing herself to ridicule and letting everyone hear the story - she's actually taking care of her family better than if she'd only had three children and been broke living on aid.
At this point, Dr. Phil is helping, volunteers are helping, she's got the porn deal to fall back on - probably some sort of train wreck reality show in the works. In short, she is no longer the public's burden.

edit: I think it's the visual of excessive teat-age that creeps me out, BTW ;D
Uh yes-- as Don King would say, "Only in America!" A porn deal? (gag)

I wouldn't want these children to just be thrown into foster care. It's difficult for children even when being placed in good homes with loving caregivers. There are so many potential emotional struggles to endure. The opportunity to be loved/raised by their biological parent is priceless.
I don't think they would be with their celebrity-type status though. They would be given to the best homes to live with the most deserving type of people. They would have to be forcefully taken away from their mother. She made a choice that I consider ' wacko ' but that's not enough reason alone to forcefully take her children.
This is why I wish there was some sort of application process for people to have kids. That would do away with fears of over-population I'm sure. There were guidelines for how many Embros to implant yet they weren't followed. This happening to her at this extent even so is just unheard though. It's a fluke. It wouldn't have made her choice any less selfish to have had less. One more child in addition to the ones she had in her circumstances would've been a poor choice, imo. However, the outcome she received could be called a miracle/impossible feat. It's unimaginable that she'd have such results to her Embros implanted.

Lol! The moment I think people are finally talking ' conversation wise ' sparks fly.. and it's a FIGHT. Lol. It's just conversation as far as I'm concerned.

The most asked question would be:"Is there a fee one has to pay for conceiving prior to running through an application?!" Lol!

We were married four years before having our daughter. We'd planned on having a family. So in our mind she was planned into our future. However, we thought we'd run through our first application around twenty eight. Lol! She was planned just a tad earlier than we imagined/expected. :) Of course. Everyone thought we'd waited forever. Them:" What's the wait? "
Us: What's the rush?!
btw, My mother was your age when having my little sister.
Man- kudos to your mom seriously!! :) I couldn't imagine starting NOW- ugg. Luckily, my BF has always felt the same way regarding children. He's never seen them or wanted them in his future. Without this mutual understanding, our relationship could not work. His nephews are good enough both him and me lol.
My parents were only married for about six months before I came along. They eventuually wanted kids, but man was I an unexpected surprise. Unexpected things happen all the time in life and people simply adapt or sink. Sounds like you have a blessed life as well. ![]()
I think "Octo-mom" knows that when you invite people into your life...you've also invited unwanted criticism. Yeah. She's nutty. But I know other nutty people too. People who do not have much money and adopt several children from diverse backgrounds..some with disabilities. That's crazy. I know people who attend college for four years plus who want to teach kids who do not respect them, parents who behave the same way....for a paltry salary and not many claps on the back for doing so. I am not saying that her situation is exactly the same, but in all three instances, these people have some notion that their contributions are important. I don't care who gives her money, as long as the babies...and her other kids are well cared for and loved. She will be raising them under a microscope....she screws up and everyone is going to be right on her ! More than I can say for many, many OTHER crazy parents who should have never reproduced...and can neglect and abuse their kids without so much as a peep from anyone until it gets really bad. She is the least of our worries right now in our society.
In all honestly, the whole story involving the Octuplet mom makes me want to projectile vomit. The latest news is that she has fired the Angels-in-Waiting group who were to provide their services to the babies because she felt they were spying on her. Then today she is on the Dr. Phil show (by phone this time) to explain why she fired the organization. I don't know is worse--that Dr. Phil is actually having this creature on his show or that he is giving her free publicity.
I would you bet you large sums of money that she is bidding her time to have a reality tv show. She has all the goods right now--a controversial subject matter, people who hate her who would probably watch the show just to see what a nutcase she is, and she has the type of attention-seeking personality that always has to be in the spotlight. (Not to mention, a whole gaggle of cute babies).
Does anyone else have the feeling that a reality tv show will be on it's way featuring the Octuplet mom?

Unfortunately, yes. I think I also saw somewhere that she's fishing for a book deal as well.
Yes, people will watch the show and read the book. I don't know whether to be comforted by that fact because she won't have an excuse to suck off taxpayer money anymore and the babies will be provided for, or sad because a good portion of the public are sucked in by attention seeking D list celebrities enough to watch and spend money on her.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
