Odd bruising
They are very bruised and I have no idea how they got that way. I have always gotten the occasional bruise and didn't know where it came from, but it wasn't like it is now. I used to get the purple bruises but this time they are all pink, and they are EVERYWHERE!
There are pics in my profile (please ignore the grossness of my legs haha they seem to be attracting every bug that bites lately!) but what on earth could be causing this?
I have heard it's normal to get bruising sometimes...but like this?!
that happens to me sometimes .. and the only thing i can attribute it to is maybe really badly pulled muscles from working out my legs? i have no idea
Wow - if that happened to me I'd be scared. I know if you have some sort of blood disorder you can bruise really easily and I think if you're low in vitamin k (?). If I were you, I'd just check with my doctor.
Yep, vitamin K is the clotting vitamin. You need to go to the Dr and ask him/her to order a Pro Time test - it measures your clotting time. There could be a medical reason, easily fixed, that's causing this problem.
Wow, your legs are pretty bruised! I have a similar problem, just not quite as bad. I am almost always bruised on my legs lately and I usually have no idea how they got there... my husband will ask about them, and I just assume it's from working with dogs and getting knocked around by them, but maybe I have a lack of vitamin K too. Glad I saw this post, thanks! :D
nutritional deficiencies cause easy brusing. it's common among ppl w/eating disorders, though anyone w/a poor diet can experience the bruising symptoms. from what i've read, anemia (low iron) is a big culprit. some others:
---Vitamin C - citrus fruits, and most berries...blueberries are a good choice
---Zinc - meat, beans ,nuts and whole grains
---Vitamin K-dark leafy green veggies, potatoes, bananas
good luck. i must say that i think zinc and iron are the keys here. bec i used to get bruised legs all the time, and i was living on broccoli, tomatoes, cauliflower, etc (foods rich in vitamins c and k).
That is pretty terrible. Poor thing! I notice many of the bruises are along your shins. I used to get awful shin splints when I ran outside in bad shoes. They were so bad I could see bruising along my shin bone. Is it possible that this is your problem? Just throwing it out there.
Check with your doctor ASAP and get a blood test. You could have a vitamin K deficiency, but bruising can also be caused by low platelets. I hate to go there, but one of the symptoms of leukemia is abnormal bruising cause by platelet deficiency. Go get yourself checked out.
I was at the doctor about...well it was a while ago! haha but they gave me like, 4 shots and then took some blood and said all was good. Except I nearly passed out when they took my blood and it took FOREVER, but I'm just afraid of needles I think! haha
How quickly can anemia/vitamin deficiencies come about? I mean, could this be the result of past poor nutrition or is it evidence of poor nutrition NOW? I have been eating so much better than ever so..I wouldn't think it would be something like that.
The post about bad shoes is interesting could very likely be the problem...I've been wearing the worst shoes during my workouts but have yet to find some that actually feel good on my feet that I can also afford.
And oh my, I didn't know it could be something as serious as leukemia =( I hope that's not it! I may be going to the doctor soon...haha
Just call your doctor's office, this might me something they could initially address over the phone. They might just say try eating more X and taking a supplement. Don't let a fear of needles keep you from getting this checked out!
I'm allergic to certain food and one of my symptoms is random bruising on my body (especially limbs).
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
