This morning, around 3am, I had a dream that I gave birth. I've never been pregnant, so I don't exacly know what it feels like, but it felt so real. Here's the story...

I was at some sort of outdoor event, wearing shorts, and it was very hot outside, so I decide to go to the bathroom. First I'm splashing water on my face to try to cool off and I began feeling extremely nauseous. Then I go into the bathroom stall and look down and there's a huge bulge in my shorts between my legs...like...a baby's head is coming out (but I don't know I'm pregnant however, so it's really really odd). As soon as I see it the pain just hits. All of a sudden, I'm in a makeshift Emergency Room tent type thing on a gurney with all these people around me asking questions. I look down and the baby's head is right there, but it's very clean and cute. Then I remember feeling this awful pain all in my abdomen, hips and even down into my thighs and then someone yells over everyone else "PUSSSHHHHH!!" and the baby pop's out just as clean and pretty as it could be. It's a boy too.

So I have this baby and he's just adorable...I remember thinking that a few times in the dream, but I just couldn't think of who the father could be. I narrow it down based on the baby's skin color which is a little darker (almost hispanic) to a friend of mine that I work with. I've never been in a relationship with him, nor do I want to. What he has to do with anything, I dont know. I have the baby at home wrapped in blankets in a little basket and I realize I have to feed him. Since I didn't know I was pregnant I wasn't prepared at all and I didn't have anything to give him, so I mixed water and OJ, heated it up in the microwave, checked the temp with the lttle drop on the back of my hand and give it to him. That is just completely rediculous...haha. Then I'm in a grocery store buying formula, diapers, clothes, all the things I need and I'm just soooo happy that I have him.

When I woke up I felt so disappointed that the dream was over.  It's so strange how real it felt.

I do want children and I've been thinking about trying to get pregnant a lot lately. That's my only reasoning for the dream. A website said dreaming of birth symbolizes a new/positive change in your life...

Anyone else had a dream like this?

Wow, maybe you had a stomach ache or something and thats why it felt so real?

I've never had a dream where I've given birth, but I have had a dream where my cat was my adopted child and I treated him just like a human baby. It was weird.

I don't believe dreams have a hidden meaning. We studied them in my psych classes and basically your mind forms this random mix of stuff based on the things in your consciousness (what you've been thinking about recently) and puts them together in a dream.

I'm just the opposite.  I find meaning in everything, but I don't think that I can find the meaning in your dream; that's up to you.  Sometimes dreams are just that, but sometimes there's a bigger story.  I find that the more intricate and vivid a dream is, and the better I remember it, the clearer the message is.  Reflect on it--reread this post in a few days after you've given it some distance.  If there is a meaning, it'll probably hit you fairly soon.

That's pretty good, but it still doesn't beat the episode of the Cosby Show where Bill Cosby has a dream he gave birth to a submarine sandwich.

One time I had a dream that I gave birth to myself! The part where I actually gave birth was missing. It went from me being pregnant, to me having a little me. It was like a 3 year old version of me with a ponytail though.

Navynoke! I was once told that having a dream about being pregnant means that you're feeling fat. It makes sense that when you're losing weight, you're having a dream you're giving birth. Congratulations :).

I have had that dream a few times.  The last time was about a month ago.  Almost makes want to have another baby, but not quite as my youngest is 24.

When I dream of fish it means that someone close to me is preggers.  For every grandbooger, I have had a fish dream before being told.  I tell them that I had my dream and I get an odd look and then they confess.

Anyways to dream of a birth can mean that you are giving birth to a new idea.  Have you wanted to do something or create something?  This can be a good start to a new life.

have you been reading the termination topic threads?

or the why do you or dont you want kids thead?

Smile

My only guesses as to what this dream could mean are:

1. I've been thinking a lot lately about having a baby/how pregnancy will be.

or

2. My life's really good right now. I've got a great guy in my life, I love my job and I just passed the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians, so I've got some good things going. Maybe the dream is just my mind working out all the good things to come. Even though that is a VERY weird way of showing me the good things.

Metaphysically speaking your dream could mean that you are "giving birth" to new ideas and new ways of thinking.  Literally creating something new from yourself and or are renewed.

That theory would seem to fit #2 above.

Well I wouldn't say dreams don't mean anything. Your subconscious works things out through dreams, without dreaming you start to go a little crazy and see things. Even for dogs.

I often have very vivid dreams that I can remember for awhile, guess I have a lot to work out.

Right after I got divorced, I dreamt that I'd given birth to my ex-husband's baby. I didn't dream about the birth itself, but I dreamt I woke up in my bed, and our families were there, and they were so excited that I'd had this baby! I felt terrible because I was completely uninterested in it, and horrified that I was now stuck with my ex forever. I remember thinking that they were going to expect me to breastfeed the baby, and just wanting to go back to sleep intead.

Here's a fun site: www.dreammoods.com

My boyfriend and I like to write out our dreams and use this site to interpret eachothers' dreams- it's fun to see someone else's take.

That said, unless you really do want a baby, the dream probably means you're getting ready for a positive change in your life.

I also dreamed I had a baby last night, there was no actual being pregnant or giving birth part though. It stayed a baby for a couple days and then it suddenly was a few years old. I remember thinking just how well behaved this baby was (never cried) and that having one wasn't so bad after all.

You're only 19 years old, please don't make any rash decisions. Your internal clock is ticking, it's natural instincts. :P

hell no i hate children. whenever i thought i *may* be pregnat when i still had a sex drive it made me sick at the thought of something living in me. id rather have a tapeworm.

what the hell? a tapeworm?

no thank you. id rather have a human in me.

My theory is that dreams provide the pictures for the disembodied random feelings that we're still experiencing when we're asleep.  Example... two people can dream that they are flying.  But if the first person is feeling relaxed and exhiliarated when flying and the second is feeling terrified that they are going to plummet to earth.... then the 'flying' part is not what the dream is about.

The main feelings in your story are a sense of unexpected joy and satisfaction..... slightly chaotic/busy, unplanned happiness.   I think therefore your life is quite productive at the moment and pretty busy.  You're a little surprised at how good things are going - weren't quite ready for it all perhaps but you're coping admirably - and you created images to match those feelings in your dream

I once had a dream that I was living at my boyfriend's apartment--but I was dating another guy, so we lived in my boyfriend's roommate's room. In my dream I had a really cute little boy (it was mine and the random dude I was dating). Then, a scary man broke in downstairs. He came running up the stairs with a gun. My current boyfriend went to protect my kid. I woke up totally scared.

I have no intentions of being with anyone but my boyfriend, and of course I have no intentions of having a kid anytime soon. When I talked to my boyfriend about it, he suggested that, even though the current changes in my life were good, it still made me nervous. He also didn't like the fact that I had a kid with someone else in my dream, hah!

I agree that your dream may resemble the beginning of a great new life (for you though, not a baby). Also, have you felt a lot more passion/love towards your boyfriend lately? That could also be it.

omg, I remember seeing this when I was quite young. I don't remember anything about it at all except him giving birth to the sandwhich, and were there other men giving birth to other strange objects?

Anyway, it must have really been a memorable thing to watch for me...

I had a dream last night that Taylor Lautner bought me a chocolate milkshake.
