So, I have been losing weight steadily since about the beginning of April. Usually about a pound a week. However, a few weeks ago around the beginning of July, I hit a plateau. I ate a maintenance for a while and started to include HIIT about twice a week. I had been only doing some bodyweight exercises like pushups and some stuff with weights like squats and lunges. In any case, I like to weight myself every day. It doesn't bother me when I see the scale go up because I know that I have been eating within my calorie limit.
To the point: This week on Tuesday I weight 147 lbs. The NEXT day I weighed 146. Then today (Friday) I weighed 145, which incidentally is my goal.
My weight really hadn't been budging for weeks (it hovered around 148). I was happy when I finally saw 147, but since last week my weight was 148, I am surprised to see it down to 145 today. I always drink lots of water (and I don't eat too much sodium) , so it shouldn't be water weight from previous water retention. I eat well (always around 1550 calories, I even went over some of the days this week).
Any ideas what caused the rapid weight loss? Is it just that finally my plateau broke and my body dropped the weight?
By the way, if you need my stats they are: 24 years old and 5'10" (currently 145)

It sounds like you just described breaking a plateau - congratulations!
It might go up tomorrow, as you know - but it sounds like you are ready to start maintenance (during which, your weight will jump around just as much) - welcome to the club!
Thanks amethystgirl! That's what I was hoping/thinking, but it never hurts to check! Yay for maintenance (just in time for my vacation in two weeks)!
congretz on reaching your goal. and i m sure u lost that weight because of that plateau break
now comes the hard part
"MAINTAINING" &n bsp; i DREAD it
Just want to echo the above responses...I've had the same thing happen where I bounce around for a couple weeks in the same range and then drop 2-3 pounds in under a week. It's kind of awesome :)
Congrats on reaching your goal!
Congrats!!!
The same happened to me. I had plateued for about a month at 150-151 and then literally in 3 days I went down to 147 where I've been for a week.
I really do believe being very hydrated is the key. The more water I drink the better I'm doing.
I think it was the combination of the HIIT and the increase of calories.
CONGRATS!!!!
:)
