Odd proportions?
This is going to be long and detailed, ladies and gents, so bear with me.
I'm a 34D with a 27in waist and 37 in hips (give or take on the inches, since i haven't measured in a bit). I am 5'1 and weigh 115
In short- big bewbs. big for my frame. and they are a cause of ENDLESS concern on my part. They make me feel so fat. Shirts don't fit because my boobs are too big for them, I can't wear even a moderate V neck because I show CRAZY cleavage, and on TOP of all of that I'm short so all my clothes are petites.
I'm not stupid. I know big boobs are supposed to be a "good" thing. But I hate them and would honestly sell a full cup size to the next girl who wandered in asking for one. I'd like to be a 34 B.
ANY WAY
Some one help me with this, because I just realized that my weight goal (100lbs) is based entirely around hoping my bust and hips shrink, and isn't actually based on any kind of healthy/realistic goal.
kthx
You're what they call an 'hour-glass' shape. I'd suggest that, if your bust makes you feel self-conscious, you should start by making sure you are wearing a bra that really fits well and holds things in place better. (Have you actually been measured or is 34D a guess?) Not something too small that leaves a lot of flesh splurging over the top or anything 'push-up' or 'balcony' style. Once you've got things under control there I think you'd find that clothing fitted better and you had a better shape..... If shirts don't fit your chest then buy the next size up.... nothing says 'busty' like shirt-buttons straining. There are v-necks and v-necks. Obviously the plunging neckline, clingy fabrics or tightly stretched knits aren't good if you're self-conscious but there are gentler v-necks and more appropriate fabrics you can find.
Good luck
I have a similar body shape, just a bit taller - 5'3", 128lb, 34DD, little waist
I think it's great you've realised your goal is a bit unrealistic - you'll probably still have the boobs anyway, mine never went away losing 50lb! - 100lb sounds a bit miserable to me, don't think many body types look much good there.
I think GI jane is right and your clothes is the answer. Fashion mags are idiotic and all think everyone is the same shape. There are things that look much better on us midgets with t&a, but if you try and wear skinny jeans and shirts, yeah, you'll just look like a pale imitation of a tall girl. I don't even have that great legs, but I enjoy wearing slouchy tops with naughty short skirts and short shorts - fitted tshirts look spectacular on girls with boobs - dresses are your friend. I wear lots of short shift dresses. I mostly avoid shirts, but if you want them, I know bravissimo.com do (pricey) shirts for specific boob sizes, so they come in properly at the waist. Smart for the hospital I wear long sleeved, slight vnecks with wide leg trousers and flats mostly. Fitted tops without buttons are very flattering especially with wide leg trousers on our shape, I think.
Bye some nice bras and admire yourself in the mirror a lot. Haha, I do that.
And you know, for the party season you've got the boobs to fill the dresses with!
Good luck sweetheart, hope you have a think and work something out, sorry about all my ramblings.

Ha - here's another member of the Large TaTas Club! I'm just under 5'4, about a 34E now, around 139 with a little more to lose and a smaller waist. I've lost some boob chub as the weight came off, but it really didn't make a huge difference overall - I'm still really busty for my proportions, which has been the deal thru all weight ranges in my life.
GI Jane makes a good point to start with the bra. At 39, I finally realized that I've pretty much been wearing the wrong bra sizes my whole life. Admittedly, I think I also was in denial about being a larger cup size and would buy bigger bands instead. With your stats, you may be borderline and really 32/ just need a larger cup (trust me, ignore it!) And Vnecks are your friend. Your best friend! Just avoid those super clingy materials and concentrate on the ones that plunge the least. Unfortunately it just takes us a lot longer to shop (ever watch "What Not to Wear"?)- and quite often we can't typically buy the trendiest styles easily (the last few years had a focus on empire waist with deep vnecks - - that sooo didn't work!). So work on slowly but surely buying classic investment pieces - things that won't go out of style quickly but have a flattering fit. And I haven't worn a button down in years, high or low weight --just not worth the aggravation and concern and safety pin negotiation to make it all work.
Bairn is so right on shift dresses - find something that fits your top part and use a cute belt to show off the great waist. Avoid bulky sweater and too large t-shirts - -they only make you look larger. Although it may sound counterintuitive, wearing more shapely clothes actually makes you look smaller.
I look back at pics from my mid-20's, at my thinnest point...and always tried to hide under large shapeless things. Guess what - you can't tell how small I really was. Then I see pics form that same time where I was 'forced' to wear more body hugging clothes, like formals and the like. Surprise -- I look teensy tiny. (and at the time I felt self conscious/exposed - -if they had made baggy tshirt formal dresses at the time, I likely would have bought them!) So in short - let your curves show, fake confidence until you feel it, and you will in reality look the slim shapely self that you really are! Embrace your boobage!
(also - Bravissimo is pricey (at least if you are ordering from the States), but well worth the investment if you can afford it or use it for select pieces. I *love* finally having a bathing suit that fits properly and offers real support. When I reach goal, I intend on investing in a a few more things.)
5'2" and even when I was at 115 I had D's that were almost DD's. Because of this, when I get down to my goal weight... I'm getting a reduction. It's my like end goal prize or something.
NO, NO, NO! Don't do it.
I looked into it when I was younger and - sorry for the details - but it isn't nearly as easy as filling 'em up. They take off the nipple and then have to reposition which can leave you with a loss of feeling...
No they've been there long enough and I may have had a love/hate relationship with them over the years but I'm not into anyone mutilating them.
The answer is really down to learning to live with them and to work with your body shape. Everyone has something that bothers them about themselves and big boobs are hardly the worst problem anyone can have. But clingy clothes actually do suit us better, things that pull in at the waist and, sorry everyone but cleavage is going to be on show. Your two choices are show at least a bit of it or risk looking like you are shoplifting mellons. Baggy clothes do not hide. They just convince everyone that there is a huge stomach hanging out under the huge tits:)
But, I've yet to find a guy who agreed with the statement that my breasts were too large so it is just a matter of finding the confidence within you and running with it:)

This is easier to say when you don't have pre-existing back issues that make having them quite difficult. :)
Well, I haven't had reduction surgery but I still dabble with the idea. I share the love/hate part of it and certainly don't want to go under the knife, but, I can certainly understand being just exhausted of battling them!
I love high impact exercise and its painful to exercise with the girls -- and I'll spare all the stories of 20 plus years of experimenting with every type and combination of bra that exists, including the ones that are rated the highest. I'm training for a half marathon, and was doing a 12 mile long run a few weeks ago - -and took all of the necessary precautions boob-wise, including applying lots of glide. I started to notice more people than normal looking at my chest, and assumed it was related to the usual bouncing. Then when I got to my car, I realized why - I had such as abrasion from the band that I bled thru the bra and my shirt and had a huge mess there. Nice. Took over a week to heal. And have lots of marks and scars and dark spots around the chest area from over the years. Back aches. Constant battling of poor posture. A lot of cardio classes like tae-bo and such are painful.
From an appearance, sexiness point of view - yeah, they're fun, no denying that. From an exercise and general back health standpoint, not to much. I've never known anyone who has had the surgery regret it - to a person, all have said that they wished that they had done it sooner.
from someone who went from 42DD down to 38D, the right bra can make a huge difference. neither tight nor baggy clothes look good.
I suggest going to a lingerie store and getting professionaly fitted. I can make a drastic difference in how you look.
As for sports bra's I've never really found one I really like I usually end up with two bras, though I don't have nearly as bad of issues as some women.
I find my boobs are out of proportion too, in general. What really helps lift and shape and squash down are the shock absorber bras (the high-support ones, level 3 or 4). They're easily found far cheaper than in the stores on ebay. The only problem is, well, they're not the most stylish looking things.
Your proportions are not odd...they are perfect
...just make the best of what you've got...
well, you guys are fantastic.
getting fitted was what made me realize that I was a 34D and NOT fat... I WAS wearing a 36B
. When I finally went in and got fitted I just stood there and was like "woah. Okay. I seriously have no clue what my body looks like."
Makphl - I too love high-impact exercise, and have a terrible time finding bras that don't make me jiggle. They really get in the way fitness wise. That's a crazy story!
Not gonna get reduction, because I don't think I need it...other than some vanity issues/spending millions of dollars on sports bras they don't cause me that much heart ache.
and it's GREAT to hear from other ladies with the same issue.
