For some odd reason Caffine Free Diet Coke curbs my hunger. Is this good?
Is Caffine free diet coke bad for you?
Whenever I drink it, it controls what would have been a food binge.
Fills your stomach up. Don't know if its good for you or not but i'm down 186 pounds and its a staple of my diet.
This is the pot talking to the kettle here, but try water instead if you haven't already. It might just be that you're dehydrated.
i do the exact same thing and as far as my diet goes it hasn't hurt it. long term health side effects? no one really knows. i'd much rather have a diet soda fill be up rather than eat that cookie though.
its the carbonation that makes you feel full :)
any time of carbonated drink is key for me losing weight
I never had that happen to me and I've been a caffiene-free diet Coke fan for years...but I limit myself and drink ice water most of the time.
I alternate soft drinks and only buy one or two kinds at a time. It gives me variety and I'm not likely to eat as much. Other favorites are diet Sunkist orange soda, diet A&W root beer, diet Canada Dry ginger ale, and diet Peach Tea.
I do know that some days when I drink more than two diet sodas in a day, it doesn't really quench my thirst, it just tastes good...the colder, the better. I think limiting myself to one a day, or occasionally two, then drinking plenty of water the rest of the day is better for me, and I feel better.
I just have to be careful and not drink too much milk...skim or regular. I love ice cold milk and it is one of my weaknesses.
YEAH DIET COKE!
its not just the carbonation that makes me feel full, i drink perrier and i dont feel nearly as full. probably just me personally though.
Given all the chemicals and artificial sweeteners in it, no it's not good for you. I like it but decided to give it up for those reasons; I'm now down to about one a week (from 2 cans a day) and feel a lot better for it. While the carbonation and sensation of drinking something sweet can make you feel full, the artificial sweeteners can give you cravings for real sugar. They also gave me headaches.
Still, a can of diet coke is better for you than a binge.
I know what you mean. One glass of diet soda really helps. Crystal Light also helps, especially for those nighttime hunger pangs. However I'm trying to limit my intake of these drinks since I keep hearing people say aspartame and splenda are bad for you, that they're bad for your brain, and even that in the long-term they could be carcinogenic. Studies are not conclusive, though.
Artificial sweetners are not good for your metabolism. They teach your body to ignore sugar as a source of calories. In small amounts this probably wouldn't happen but if you are consuming mostly diet drinks it could have an ill effect.
I did the same, but then I researched the sweetener in it, which is Aspartame, which can be very bad for you if you drink too much of it, I was getting mirgrane headaches and thought that might be the cause, so I'm cutting it down a bit, but I love diet Coke, so I can't cut it out all the way..
