An ode to Cauliflower.

Quote  |  Reply

Oh cauliflower, oh cauliflower, you're just so damned delicious.

You have the perfect texture, and you also are nutritious.

I like to eat you raw, you have a lovely little crunch.

But I also like to microwave you - I eat you by the bunch.

Some people mash you up and say you stand in well for 'taters.

Some folks add butter, garlic, and parmesan from graters.

Some smother you with melted cheese and cover you in sauce.

Some fools don't like you at all - ha ha, I say, their loss.

But when I cook you, cauliflower, my voice takes on that tone.

You know I love you best, baby, when you're naked and alone.

wow.

your forum title caught my eye because I just picked up a head of cauliflower and was trying to figure out how I wanted to prepare it. Never tried it mashed, but I bet it's good. but the WOW is for your creativity. :)

LOL nice.

This made me smile. I heart cauliflower so much! Not quite as much as broccoli...can you write one about my beloved broccoli too?!

cauliflower is awesome mashed.  I use chicken broth and a little non-fat sour cream a little salt and pepper. and Yum.  Sometimes after I mash it, I bake for 20 minutes and thats good too.  Thanks for the grins!

hahaha awesome poem!

This is especially relevant because I just got home with some fresh local cauliflower from the farmers market. I've never tried it mashed and I think I'll do that tonight.

Yum, I'm having some tonight - roasted with some cayenne sprinkled on!

The chef Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall said that it was the only vegetable he didn't like - he called it "insepid". Oh how wrong he is...

Please clarify; is that me or the cauliflower that's naked?  Great Poem

Awesome poem! ;)  I love cauliflower most in soups, but I'd like to try it mashed in place of potatoes sometime.

Great poem!  I like cauliflower raw with a wee bit of balsamic vinegar drizzled over it.

Of diet foods I like to number

Ranking top is the great cucumber.

When good intentions start to crack

Nothing rates like a cucumber snack

When with diet pains you have to grapple

Chomp one down just like an apple.

(OK, OK, I'm not giving up my day job just yet).

Supplies are low but you're making salad;

And here's the object of my ballad,

Chop it, steam it, toss it in-

Delicious broccoli, never a sin.

So what if you're out of spinach or beets,

A broccoli salad - what a treat!

Too flipping funny! Naughty AND nice! Great poem. Keep 'em up, love to hear more!

Two thumbs up.
