Take off 15 lbs by Valentine's Day Challenge (Edited to say 15 lbs from 20)
This is a challenge for those of us wanting to get rid of the last 20 lbs by Valentine's Day.
I'll keep it open unless there gets to be too many to keep up with. I'm just asking you EDIT YOUR FIRST POST WITH YOUR UPDATES so it's easier to keep track of everyone.
Thanks and good luck!!!
Also, feel free to post a comment at the end of the weight loss posts. If you have a question, suggestion, frustration, idea, whatever! I'm open to hear it all!!! And it will keep the challenge bumped too! ![]()

Tammy, thank you for setting this up! The three of us (you, buggyhair and me) were in the Christmas challenge together and by the end of it we were the only ones still checking in! So I'm excited to be a part of this challenge because I know we'll stick it out!
UPDATE: Sorry! I had to go out of town unexpectedly and didn't have an internet connection. Now that it's 2009 -- I should be back on track and all this is over with. I'm going to use my weigh in today as my start weight since I kind of didn't track calories at all recently and so it's okay if my weigh in on the 5th is a bit off. Anyway, things in my life can only go up from here!!! ^^;

Can I join? When is weigh day? I'm really intrigued by this challenge because I got my fiance surprise tickets to the ballet's performance of Dracula for Valentine's Day and I want to wear a very tight dress I haven't worn in about 6 years, haha. It's at the new opera house and I'm stoked!!!
SW: Last week I was about 152 (but I'm probably 155 now -- too depressed at the moment to weigh myself, will do so next week -- and I know that sounds not very promising, but I do promise I keep up with challenges I just had a lot of bad crap happen to me this week and I don't have the heart to even count the calories for all the carbs and Taco Bell I ate this week but I WILL get back on track Monday....)
GW: 145 (the lowest I've ever been though I'd like to see if I could make it to 140 eventually)
And Tammy, is it?, I've only got about 10 lbs to lose and I just can't seem to make it! Every time I lose a pound I gain it back the week after. (It's great to maintain, I just want to do it at a lower weight, haha!)
Hello, again, tincognito. How are you doing (better I hope)? Well, that makes 3 familiar faces from previous challenges.
I would love to join your challenge. I just finished the challenge to lose 30lbs by Christmas. I made the goal 2days late.

Monday, the 29th, will be the first weigh in. Are we ready for this ride? LOL It's been a roller coaster for me this whole 14 months!
It's time to get with the program and get this weight off once and for all!!!!
This is my first challenge I've started, so bear with me. OK?
There is always room for more. I'm not closing it, so anyone can join at any time.
The final weigh in will be February 13th.
How are you all losing the weight you want to lose? Are you exercising? Tell us what you're doing to accomplish your goal.
I'm planning on 1200-1400 calories per day and running 3-4 times a week 3-4 miles each run. I like to work out so that's going to be the easy part for me, the hard part is not eating too many sweets and carbs. I get that afternoon slump and want to eat chocolate or baked goods from 2-4pm. To help with this I'm going to try a time-release vitamin B capsule which I understand will help boost my energy. I'm also planning on having a protein with every meal or snack, I think it will help keep me full. I know I have to be determined not to give in to cravings, too. I will not be buying any junk food and not baking anything for a while.
I love to bake, but I end up eating everything I make.
I am going to keep doing what I'm doing but will add a couple of new exercise programs to spice things up..
I eat an average of 1400 - 1500 cals per day and exercise 7 days a week.. however, let me define exercise! I swim 3 times per week for about 45 - 60 minutes and I also walk/jog for 45 - 60 everyday of the week. I find that walking keeps me sane but it's not too hard of a workout where I need to take a day off. I hope that makes sense!
So, for the added exercise programs... I haven't really set rewards for myself during the weight loss process but I have been looking forward to taking a flamenco dance class at my fitness club and promised myself that I would take it once I reached 150lbs. Well, I'm down to 147lbs so I guess I should cash in on my reward! I will also start the NROL program (again) and will keep at it..
As for my meals, I try to cook at home as much and as clean as possible. I sometimes have trouble eating enough protein so I make it a point to have egg whites every morning and a protein bar/smoothie during the day. I eat a very good amount of fresh vegetables but I have a terrible sweet tooth! Thankfully I have found different, healthy ways of curbing my cravings with fruit, dark chocolate, kozy shack no sugar added tapioca puddings, and FAT FREE vegan cookies.. hehe
Laniemox, I know what you mean about baking! I also love to bake so whenever I do, I go for healthy versions of my favorites and then either freeze the cookies or give them to my neighbors and friends.
ETA: you guys may want to try these.. I just made a batch and added the recipe to the database.. Soft Tofu Coconut Oat Cookies... each cookie is about 55 cals.
What is NROL? Just wondering.
laniemox ~ New Rules of Lifting is NROL. They have a program for women.
v_avila ~ I know you've lost alot of weight. I don't know what you're doing, but just keep it up! You're doing great! I love walking too and did alot of it this summer. But my back flared up and today was the first walk I've taken in 2 months, let alone anything else in the form of exercise. I have to be extremely careful of what I do now.
I walked today for 2 hours and burned 650 calories carrying a 2 lb weight. I walk with a cane (painful leg) so I just carry one weight to help burn calories. It felt soooo great to walk again and be out in the sun! I've really missed it!
Aww! Tammy so sorry to hear your having problems with your back! I know how painful it can be. I have 2 herniated cervical discs that sometimes flare up when I'm stressed and even blinking hurts.. I hope you feel better soon! and GREAT job on your walk - a little at a time, right?
