Offensive Halloween decorations featuring Obama

Wow, I was really shocked to hear these stories.  Here's a lady in Alabama I believe who has a McCain dummy and an Obama dummy in her yard but Obama has a bloody skeleton behind him! Quote from the homeowner:   “It’s kind of like the shadow of death behind Obama. We’re kind of more of McCain advocates,” said Neese.

Here's one in Georia where a guy has a dummy in a noose hanging from a tree and under that is an Obama political sign. He says he's an Obama supporter and wouldn't have the sign if he wasn't but others think it's a blatent sign that suggests Obama is in the noose.  I think if he was a true Obama supporter he would move the sign or the dummy immediately!

Does this scare the crap out of you?  Both involving DEATH!  I think Obama is so loved and he reminds me so much of what I imagine folks thought about Kennedy.. that I'm terrified some nut will try to kill him for fame.  Very disturbing!

The first one is more stupid than offensive. The second with the noose is a bit tacky given the history of lynching in this country, though he probably just wasn't thinking when he placed it near the sign.

As for all the death involved, well, it's Halloween. Traditionally a time for remembering death and the dead, and indulging in scary stuff. So no, some decorations don't scare so much as when I read of a reality attempt to assassinate Obama being foiled by the FBI.

It doesn't surprise me. It does sadden me greatly. I also think Obama will be a much bigger target for assassination than other presidents. He has already received more death threats than other candidates. I certainly hope our secret service agents can keep him safe.

Yea, having decorations like spiderwebs, black lights, coffins, skeletons, witches, Mike Myers, Jason, Freddy.. etc.. those are halloween decorations.  Bringing an actual person into it is a bit more distrubing. 

For instace, what if a known pedophile in your neighborhood had dummies of little girls and boys in their underwear with blood splattered on them all over his yard.  He could say 'What? they are spooky dead kids - it's Halloween!' but, given he's a pedophile, this would be totally creepy and inappropriate. 

So, given the death threats and attempts on Obama that they've stopped (I've heard of one thwarted attempt at least), I don't chalk it up to just decorations... And even if they are doing it as an inappropriate joke.. they should stop and think that there are nuts in this world who will take this to heart and really want to hurt Obama..

i second the extiction of racisit idiots!!! But what i must point out is that Obama is also white..... the majority of childhood memories he often quotes are of his mother and his mother's side of the family...... Obama represents america now..... where so many racial and national lines have been blended to what people often call a melting pot..... there are very few americans who are of any purity.... there is no such thing as a pure blood line...... but i guess that takes us back to slavery and labeling of a slave..... and well Obama has at least an 8th of black blood......

#3 - If a pedophile was in my neighborhood, again, I wouldn't be scared of it's decorations, but of the fact that it's a pedophile. Probably would be making sure all my neighbors know too.

Well you wouldn't be afraid because you're not a little kid.. I'm not saying these decorations are scary anyway.. they are just wrong.  You can't honestly tell me that you would not think a pedophile with bloody little kids as decorations would not be creepy... You would honestly not see an issue with that?

I would take issue with the pedo's very existance and it being in proximity to any real children, not decorations in the yard.

Actually, if you watch "Chicken Hawk" (pedo documentary from the 90's), they don't seem to want their kids bloody so much as they were snapping illicit photos of kids in swimsuits at the beach and what have you, stuff that you or I would see as totally innocuous and normal, but to them it was eroticized (so disgusting). So I think a real pedophile would be less likely to make a display of bloody child mannequins.

Since we brought up the topic of assassination, I truly believe that if Obama gets elected, he will be assassinated. It breaks my heart to think about, but I honestly do not believe white supremacists will allow a black president. I don't think we're there yet =[

Ok, so I have to ask, what do you think will happen if Sarah Palin becomes President (assuming something happened to McSame)?  I personally know several people who currently wish she were dead (not in literal terms).  I personally think she would be as big of a target as Obama.  BTW, I sure hope he wins.  Can't imagine any other outcome considering the current economic conditions of the country.

 Aww.  I think it's a little harsh to jump to that conclusion.  It could be a very innocent comment...a statement about him and not having anything to do with whether his assasination would be terrible or not.

Honestly, I don't place white supremacists on the same level as anyone else. People may hate Palin, but I don't see those people as actually killing her. however, I wouldn't put it past a white supremacist...

I was asking her a question. Considering what this thread is about, and the context in which the OP was comparing Obama and Kennedy, I think that it's fairly obvious AT THE MINIMUM, she was being extremely snide in her remark that Obama is no Kennedy. Why would you even throw that in there, and as you say ... inncocently?

Gotta agree that the people who hate Palin are not the type to assassinate. White supremacists are exactly the type of people who assassinate and then feel justified about it.

I think Palin would end up being an empty shill for the cronyism of the current administration. It'd give Cheney another few years as president behind the scenes. I shudder at the thought of a Palin presidency.
