I hope everyone is having a great day at the office/ in-home work!
My office keeps a HUGE pot of candy in the other room and it is all I can think about. I am having trouble concentrating on my work for it. Reese's, Tootsie Rolls, and all kinds of other great stuff. There is even community ice cream in the freezer.
How do I get my mind out of the sugar and back on task?

I'd say, just throw yourself into your work! Once you start really getting into the task at hand, you'll completely forget about the candy!
Have a glass of milk and some nuts or a granola bar.
Grab one small piece of candy and keep it until the end of the day as a reward for having just one.
i have this SAME issue...especially since its near halloween..they start leaving pots of unlimited chocolate mmm and im a SUCKER for chocolate...I will usually take one piece and eat it slowly...then i make sure the candy is not at my desk..usually 1 piece satisfies me gives me that taste im craving. Other times ill cook kettle corn for someone else and take a handful
its soo hard when your bored in your cubicle ...i know!

I like herbal tea before bed - it's pretty sweet, and since it's hot you have to sip it, which for me makes it more enjoyable.
Would it be possible to easily have hot tea at work? Hot chocolate might work too - sugar free's are 50-60 cals.

At least the candy is in the other room for you... I'm the receptionist and its my darn job to fill the stupid stuff!!! I keep saying how cruel it is that the girl that's on the diet SHOULD NOT have to refill the candy dishes, to no avail.
Things that have worked for me:
Things that have worked for me:
- peppermint gum
- buckets of water
- chocolate rice cakes or cereal
- allow myself 1 piece, suck on it to make it last and get on with life
I say have your own stash of sugar-free or low-cal candy at your desk. When I get a craving for sugar I just pop an 8 cal. sugar-free werther's hard candy in my mouth. Binge averted!
ishipop, I agree! Anything that can last for a long time is the perfect treat. Hard candy is great and gum works well also.
If you really have a craving for chocolate, I like to have some chocolate pudding. Fewer calories than a chocolate bar, but just as tasty.

Ugh I definitely relate. In my office I'm 2 feet away from a cauldron of tootsie pops, a huuuge bowl of m&m's and a ceramic witch with chocolates coming out of her mouth, lol.
I think of that stuff only when Im HUNGRY!!!! Eat healthy food and DO NOT let yourself get HUNGRY.. have a snack planned or your meal.. and when your hungry EAT IT! If not.. you try and hold off and the temptation OVERPOWERS YOU! Snack on healthy foods the temptation goes away! We sell CANDY BARS and ect... here 3 feet from my desk.... I keep peanuts... granola & yogurt, cottage cheese & pineapple, Aplles, Cheese sticks.... ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN JUNK!
I work in an office w/ a candy bowl on my desk XD an it is the hardest thing to do, not eating it. However, I find that if I take one of the slow melting mints it curbs the urge. then I dive into work an forget about them. It is not until my next break that I think about them. The star peppermints are kinda low in cals. An I allow myself a limit of 3 a day. Maybe that would work for you. Have one for your morning, lunch, and afternoon snack. Savor it, and keep your mind off grabbing another by diving into your work^^ Hope that helps.
I read this article recently that illustrates just how toxic the office candy jar is:

I like given2staci's of deciding in advance how many you will have. You might even give yourself a weekly quota - say three pieces a week. That may help to take the pressure off of the jar. Also, I think it's within your rights to ask the person who keeps it to please not continue with the candy jar. Give them a printout of the attached article to support your argument.
