How often do you eat dessert/get take-out?
So at the risk of sounding completely ignorant I ask these questions: How often do you eat dessert at your house? How often do you eat at restaraunts? How often do you get take-out?
I don't know if these questions are too personal, but I would really appreciate any answers! =)
Moderators; Ive got no clue where to put this so feel free to move it :)
I only eat dessert at home if I have a dinner party (maybe once a month). I try to go out to eat or get take-out only once per week, but sometimes it's none and other weeks it is more. I try to cook healthy meals at home as often as possible because I find it very easy to overeat other people's cooking!
I'm trying to lose, so I grab take-out maybe two or three times a month, while grabbing dessert a few times a week.
I have dessert at home usually 3 times a week. When I do have a dessert its frozen yogurt, 100 calorie snack, or a bowl of sweet cereal.
I don't eat dessert when I go out to eat anymore because I never have room for it in my tummy. I eat out maybe twice a month. As far as take out goes, I have it maybe twice a month also. I've lost my desire to order take out and I would much rather go out with family or friends to restaurants. Besides I have a toddler running around so I have to factor her wants and needs into my schedule. If she wants McDonald's then I adjust....
For me, it kind of depends on how you define dessert. I like to have something sweet after dinner. Usually it's some berries or a nice pear. Sometimes it's a truffle or other small piece of chocolate. In terms of "real" dessert, like cake or pie, I usually save that for special occasions, like birthdays and holidays.
I hardly ever eat take-out. Every once in a while when I'm out of town I indulge, but it seems like restaurants use so much salt and fat when it's really not necessary. I prefer cooking for myself, so I can know what's in my food.
Sometimes I'll go to restaurants, but I never get take-out or anything like that. I'd rather make my own quick dinner or re-heat some leftovers from my freezer.
I was never a cake person/fast food taker outer..
so never to the other two.
If I can, i have dessert every night - but my idea of what dessert is has totally changed now. I always preplan my daily meals and have 6 meals a day - the last of which is a late night snack about an hour or two after dinner. Usually about 100cals, it is light and always budgeted for.
I sometimes have a yogurt (fresh or frozen), or a chocolate diet mousse, or diet jelly, or fruit (fresh or dried) or pieces of chocolate and nuts. I limit myself to 100 cals - things like chocolate and nuts are premeasured and stored in little ziplock bags in the freezer, so i can't go overboard. I keep these treats in an empty packet of frozen peas so the children won't steal from me!
So far this year I've lost 16lb.
We do take-out/restaurants once a month or so. Our take out isn't really "fast food." It's typically restaurant food that we take to go, like rotisserie chicken or a roast beef sandwich from a real deli. Stuff like that.
I never eat 'dessert' - I consider dessert an extra apple after my oatmeal, for example. I hate sweet, sugary things.
I never eat take-out either. I would never put something like that into my body.
Restaurants I go to pretty often, probably around 3 times a week, but not the fast food types. It's sad, but it's what I do to catch up with my friends. We always try to try out some new, nice restaurants around town that fit into our budget (poor-college-students-with-loans kinds of budgets:P). Don't usually get dessert, unless I hear that restaurant is well-known for their sweets.
I never do take-out, not pizza, not Chinese, or whatever else you can think of. It's just the household I was brought up in.
Desserts I love. I'll have dessert daily probably. Anything sweet is dessert to me. Sometimes its fruit, other times cereal with almond milk. Tonight I had french toast with jam...180 calories. I can't say I always fit them into my daily calories, but I try my darnedest...and that's what workouts are for ;).
I also bake a lot of pretty decadent goodies (3 chiffon cakes and a giant batch of cream puffs last weekend), but I take them around town to fatten up my friends/relatives. And since I bake 'em, I know exactly what's in 'em.
I eat dessert every day and I get takeaway or go to a restaurant about 5 times a year maybe (but that's up to my parents not me)
Dessert such as cereal, fruit, yogurt and frozen yogurt, I eat on a daily basis =).
Same here; they're high in sugar, so it's all sorta the same. At least for a "dessert" they still pack in the vitamins.
Almost every night unfortunately... I have to have something sweet everyday. I was raised by parents who always had some form of dessert ready for after dinner. I eat at a restaurant like once a week, but I get take-out from a restaurants/cafe a few times a week for lunches.
I do not eat dessert ever and I mostly cook all my meals at home but last night I did order in some sashimi & yellow tail collars from my local sushi joint - and man was it good, but with the amount I spent on one dinner, I could have at least bought 3 nights worth of food - Yikes! I went to the grocery store today and spent a lot so now I feel a tiny bit guilty that I ordered in!
I never get take-out since starting CC+, rarely before that. I eat out once or twice a month, but these occasions usually result in going over my calorie limit - so it usually needs to be some sort of special occasion.
I eat dessert everyday - ranging from a square of chocolate to up to 250 or so cals if I have that much leftover. I don't include fruit/yogurt in that - I'm talking pure dessert. If I really have more than 250/300 leftover after dinner, I will eat fruit to make up for it. I find myself usually 'bargaining' what I eat for dinner to ensure I have calories left for chocolate. I see it as a choice between high-cal carbs, or butter on my vegetables and chocolate - I choose the latter!
The other day I somehow managed to have 500 calories left after dinner, so we went to Baskin Robbins! I had a sugar cone with a scoop of Maui Brownie Madness frozen yogurt for only 255 cals. Sweet!!!
No take-out (I live in NYC- too expensive) and no "dessert" (ice cream, frozen snacks, etc.) When I feel the craving for sugar I have a few slices of fruit!! mm mm mm!!
As for restaurants, I grew up going on their food ha. We never really had meals in the house (except for holidays), but thank GOD they were at least good/healthy restaurants and not fast food places or chains!! ew
So when me and bf do go out, we go out for sushi, my fav!!!
Well, to be honest I eat dessert almost every day. First of all I need something sweet after my lunch or dinner (mostly lunch) - usually is ony a few prunes or a piece of chocolate or a low cal pudding or jello or popsicle or chocolate covered raisins and nuts. It doesn't have to be a "real" portion of dessert but definetely something sweet and that makes me think: That's it-lunch is over!! There's those few times though that I just can't control myself and I'll have lots of PB (don't eat it with bread) or extreme amount of ice cream cake etc. I LOVE SWEETS!!! and that's the reason I'm in CC for the longest time trying to lose 10 lbs. I don't have time to cook so I order out at luch almost every day. I always try to get the healthiest choice possible (salad, soup, sushi etc) but some times that goes overboard too. Honesty for the amount I eat I am doing pretty good at losing slowly. I hit the gym at least 3 times a week and I don't have a car so I walk a lot too. I rarely drink alcohol (big problem for a lot of people trying to loose) and I log everything to know where I'm standing. I have also notice that I eat more at home than when I go out. I am an emotional eater and I some times I really have no control over it.
