I usually eat my "meals" about two or three hours apart to make sure I don't feel like I've stuffed myself too much. The only exception is my before-bed snack. Even though it's usually two hours or so after dinner, I hardly wait any time at all after eating it until I hit the hay.

How often do you guys eat? Does two hours seem like too little of time-frame? I always have a late lunch, so afternoon snack usually comes in at about 5:00 or 5:30, but I don't eat dinner until 7:30 or 8:00, so it's still pretty reasonable, right? As of now, snack is 300 calories and dinner is 500, although within the next week I'm hoping to bring up my snacking numbers to 400.

I'm just thankful that I don't feel stuffed all the time anymore like I used to. I used to dread dinner time and feel awful both before and after eating. Back then I couldn't dream of having a night snack - let alone a good-sized evening meal!

Six times a day. I don't have set times any more. :]

I work with a personal trainer, and she has me eating protein every two hours.  I have a protein/meal replacement shake when I wake up around 3/3:30, 3 eggs and mozzerella with a veggie for breakfast at 5/5:30, half a protein bar at 7/7:15, lunch with lots of veggies and 6 oz of protein at 9:30-10:30, another shake at 1 pm, and the other half of the protein bar at 2:30/3:00.  Now the times may seem a little strange, but I'm a teacher and that's when my preparation periods are: my only chances to eat.  She's been very clear that if I eat protein constantly, my body will be more willing to use that protein to build muscle, which in turn burns fat.

Hope that helps!

jus because i feel like putting in an input;

ive recovered an ED, but i still get hungry quick

7 - brekkie

11 - snack

1 - lunch

6 - dinner

now i am starving between 1 and 6 andam pretty hungry just before my snack. thing i if i dont eat a big enough breakfast i remain hungry right through to 11 from directly after eating......

like wise if i eat too much at once i feel sick. but on weekends where im free to eat it's usually once every 3-4 hours, remembering im on maintainence and eat til my tummy is full, so basically i go fom full to hungry in 4 hours....

every 2 hours

i try wait at least 2.5 hrs between each meal ( like after i finish the meal i wait 2.5 hrs or so)except for my last snack cause i dont have enough time b4 bed to wait 2.5 hrs after dinner vcause i wait after eating my last snack at least 1 hr b4 bed!

breakfast- 7am (finished at 7.30)

snack-10.20

lunch-1.30 (finished around 1.50)

snack- 4.15

dinner-usually between 6-7

snack if i can-9

Aussie; I never wait long after my nighttime snack before bed either. Actually, I usually have it around 10:30 or 11:00 and then go straight to bed. I do, however, try to make it my smallest snack of the day, since I don't want to go to sleep feeling stuffed.

Tonight I have to eat a later dinner due to timing issues, so I'll probobly make my nighttime snack something simple and easy to get down, like a glass of milk or some other kind of liquid.

I sometimes end up eating at 11pm and I still go to sleep afterward. But I do as you do, Zebulan, and aim to keep it calorie dense but light. Bananas are good as part of a pre-bed snack, though, as they contain chemicals that make you sleepy. :B

Breakfast: 9:00am

Lunch: 1:00pm-3:00pm

Dinner: 7:00pm-9:00pm

Snack: 10:00pm-11:00pm

zebulan : i meant i have my snack an hour b4 bed cause i find it i eat b4 bed an go straight to bed after i cant sleep properly so i usually have it at like 9/9.30 an wud be in bed by 11ish when i have to get up early ( im a lark lol...up early..bed early).

yeah liquids wud be a good idea if ur havin dins late..milks a good idea..good for the bones right :)

Lara Bars are good to have on hand too - small, lightweight, and yet very calorie-dense. They're healthful as well, since they're only made from pure raw nuts and dried fruit. Even if you only had half of one, it'd still be about 100 calories, so just pair it with a glass of whole milk (or whatever milk you drink... skim milk with added whey protein powder would work too) and you've got about 250 calories - easy.

I have about 10 snacks a day....

I try to make each one healthy, but it's a little hard sometimes.  my weight now is 185LBS@6'0  and body fat last time I checked was 5%.

I think I take in too many calories though (5,300)...food costs me more than transportation and home products.

wow u maintain on over 5000 cals? thats pretty insane, u must be supper active!

I am….I do a lot of martial arts training, and strength training, and also fight training.  I have usually 3-5 fights a year.  Some weekends I do triple 2 hour sessions of conditioning.  I’ll go to the park and run with the parachute and then kick and punch a tree for 30 minutes….so I’m really really active, but I want to cut down on the amount of food I eat, because when the day comes that I’m not as active…I’m afraid I won’t be able to stop eating…lol.

I'm weight restored now though, so I will resume training for dance and running next week. Thus, my meal times will be a bit less "organized" lol! I donnot mind one bit though, ANYTHING to train again :)
