How often do you treat yourself to dessert such as a chocolate bar?
I tend to crave desserts a lot.... usually after ever single meal.
Hmmm should I have dessert after every single meal though? (even if its just something small under 100 cals?)
What do you guys do to satisfy your sweet tooth/cravings after meals??
Reason: Released as sticky
Define sweets. If you're including fruit, yogurt and other healthy sweet foods, after every meal is fine. If you mean cookies, cakes and chocolates, once or twice a day would be fine (if small portions), but not after each of your six mini-meals (if you're the type to have six mini-meals a day).
I normally have a yogurt as dessert at lunch. Sometimes, I'll have fruit instead. At some point during the day, I might have a small square of dark chocolate for about 60 cals. If I have extra calories, I might have dessert after dinner (or, more likely, as an evening snack). That might be a small portion of ice cream (typically, 1/4 cup) or yogurt topped with fruit and honey (about 100 cals altogether) or a couple of Hob Nobs (oatmeal-y cookie; 120 cals for two) or instant pudding made with skim milk or a single-serve fruit crisp made by dicing up a single portion of fruit and topping with rolled oats sweetened with a little brown sugar and held together with a little ICBINB or regular butter (if I'm feeling extravagant), etc. etc. etc. I try to keep my desserts either small or healthy or both. I don't worry too much about fat content because my daily fat percentages are always way lower than they "should" be, but I do try and keep a loose eye on the sugar content 'cause I have a killer sweet tooth.
I probably don't have sweets every day, but almost every day! The key for me is to watch how much and when. Take chocolate for example, these days you can buy mini or snack sized portions, which can help cut down on how much you eat at one time.
Over time you might find that your cravings decrease too. I used to eat ice cream almost every day, but now I might have 1 snack sized ice cream every week or so. If I had a large container of ice cream sitting in my freezer I'd probably attack it every evening, so I stopped buying it.
There's also many alternatives to traditional sweets, so you may want to look into those as well.
I eat desert after my cheat meal once a week. I would eat desert everyday if I let myself. Sweets are my BIGGEST craving and weakness. Brownies, cake, cookies, rice crispy treats, ice cream. Stupid good food! I cannot have just one bite, one piece of chocolate so on Friday I eat a brownie and a cookie.
If you're not overweight and you're reasonably active there's nothing wrong with having a dessert or something else sweet after every meal. If you don't want to eat sweet foods, have a bigger main course.
whenever i feel like having something sweet i do.. sometimes it's everyday and others is once every 2 weeks. i just do it in moderation and work it into my calories for the day. i've noticed that doing this has helped me overcome binging and keeps me happy :)
I have dessert every day after dinner. It's usually a moderate dessert like a skinny cow or weight watchers ice cream sandwich with only 140 calories. This week I've had some halloween candy after dinner - 2 pieces of the snack size treats like 3 musketeers or 100 grand bars. After lunch I don't usually have dessert but if I do it's fruit. My mid-morning snack (after my workouts) is usually a Luna nutrition bar which is kind of like a snack/dessert.
Good luck and don't deprive yourself - anything in moderation is ok in my opinion.
I have one sweet treat everyday (not counting fruit), and sometimes I eat some sun chips too. It's all about calories, but I do try to get proper nutrients from other wholesome foods.
I just try to make sure these sweet treats/snacks don't add up to more than 300 cals per day.
I have something sweet several times a day (whenever I feel like it) BUT each time it's a very small treat, like a couple of hershey's kisses or ONE small cookie or a miniature candy bar or a few jellybellies etc. They don't add up to more than eating a normal-sized dessert once a day would - I just like to spread it out. If you had a piece of cheesecake every time you wanted something sweet, you'd explode, but a few candies never hurt anyone. lol
I usually stop and ask myself "do I REALLY want something else to eat?" aftear meal. If I REALLY do after lunch, I might have something sweet but under 50 cals, like dried apricots or a square of chocolate. After dinner, I have something small that's between 100-200 cals, like a homemade muffin or oat square, a square of chocolate, 1/2 cup ice cream, etc.
Daily. Probably twice or 3 times a day. Sometimes my sweet want is fruit, sometimes it's chocolate, and lately it's been caramel (god bless Mars for making Midnight Milkyways)
A square of chocolate can go a long way if you sit back and enjoy. Sometimes I crave donuts and I'll share half with my boyfriend, or break it in half, trash the other side, and just sit back with my portion. It's completely do-able on a daily basis.
3 times a day, but my sweets are usually an apple or yogurt
Usually just once, after supper... a thin slice of pie or a monster cookie or anything like that. Since it was just halloween and I have lots of candy left over, I will be eating an extra mini-chocolate or sucker at lunch time though, too.
Have any of you ever tired PB2 Chocolate? It is really good especially if you mix it and then chill it. Only 53 calories in 2 tablespoons. The regular is really good too.
I treat myself everynight to sweets. I tend to crave sweets late at night (at around 9 PM) However, instead of having a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie that has about 230 calories, I have 1/3 cup of oatmeal with 1 packet of Equal and 1 tsp of chocolate chips for about 120 calories. This is my daily treat and I keep losing weight without wanting to! I want to maintain but my scale this morning said 92.5 pounds and my goal was to be 97 pounds! This is not good!
every day, definitely. I've got a huge sweet tooth. cookies are my favorite, and that's the only thing that's good at the cafeteria.
ZonePerfect nutrition bars are about my favorite sweet treat right now - they're about 200 calories each, but they are pretty packed with nutrition, and I'll plan it into my calories for the day. It feels like I'm having a huge candy bar. especially the dark chocolet covered strawberry flavor, which smells exactly like the real thing, and tastes pretty great too...
If you crave sweets every day I would just plan them into my calories for the day, and then eat slowly and enjoy.
I eat sweets every day. Yogurt with honey and berries. But if I've been active and am on a losing path, I can't say no to some extra chocolate and/or a real dessert. I could eat sweets all the time now and I used to hate them. Have you guys heard about the MUFA diet? You incorporate dark chocolate and other good fats to help jump start the metabolism and lose belly fat? I find it's hard to have some chocolate though. I do better just avoiding it.
If Granola bars, yogurt, apples, and SF Jelly toast count as desserts then everyday, about twice a month I have a legitimate dessert
