how often do your grocery shop?? and when?
okay so this has been on my mind...i go grocery shopping each week which is starkly different from my mom and one of my best friends.
my mom shops once a month when she receives her paycheck and just stocks up, so when something runs out it's gone for that month until she goes again.
on the other hand, my best friends mom used to shop EVERY single day depending on what she was making for dinner.
so, what do you guys do and is it successful? what are the benefits? i have a set shopping day, Sundays after church...do you have a set day of the week?

I'm too lazy to shop every day. Since I got on CC, I plan my week's meals, make the list and shop from it on Sunday's with my son to help carry the bags. I use a budget, too, but sadly I've been consistently over budget. I think everything must cost more...
At least once a week depending how fast I eat my fruits and veggies. I frequently stop at the store for a few things during the week.
I usually shop during the week after going to the pool, it depends on my work schedule that week.
My fiance and I go shopping every two weeks. In the beginning of the month we end up getting quite a few frozen bags of Green Giant Steamers & when we grocery shopping two weeks later we notice that we just need the refrigerated items and things for lunches & breakfasts. [[I.E. bread, 100 calorie packs, oatmeal, eggs]]
We go to the store once a week on the weekends. Sometimes I'll have to pick up something during the week or some fruit/veggies if we run out.
It depends. At school, I go whenever my roommates or friends are going (if I'm available at the time)
I go to the store more days than not as I only plan a couple days at a time and even then I am likely to change my mind about what I want to eat and have to go store again! So, I make lots of mini trips to the store.
I very rarely go grocery shopping. I usually am at work from 9AM-530PM and I am a nanny so I eat all my meals at work, so on weekends I often go out or am with my family for meals. So occasionally I stop in to the grocery store just to pick up one meal, I would say twice a week.
I go once a week on Saturday or Sunday. I sit down and plan my meals on Friday - what i'll have for each meal. I hit the store and buy only what I need for those meals, nothing more nothing less. I'm forced to stick with the healthy meals I planned, and i'm not tempted by multiple trips to the store. It's just what works for me.
I get paid twice a month, so I have a big shopping trip every two weeks. I live in a rural area of KY, so I end up stopping at smaller, local stores a few times a week for things I have forgotten. I try to split my shopping trips between Wal-Mart and Kroger. Kroger has much better meat, but Wal-Mart has much lower prices on non-perishables.

Chrissy I'm with you on loving the grocery store. I seldom make a list. I just kind of mosy at my own pace getting things on sale and whatever sounds good, and fits the budget of course! I love the organic section, the bakery and the deli area too! I hardly buy those fancy expensive cheeses but it's fun to leark around the cheese monger. Sometimes she'll give you REALLY good samples!
I agree with you guys! I love going grocery shopping! It's so relaxing, the time passes so quickly! I go way too often. I will inevitabley forget or run out of something. I end up going 2-3 times a week. It depends on how busy I am though. The busier, the less I go and the more time I have the more I go. I've tried the whole planning meals and only going once a week, but I just can't do it. I am just used to going whenever I feel like it. I guess I get it from my parents because my dad goes at least every other day (if not every day!). That's just what I'm used to!
i go grocery shopping about once every 3 weeks. i go up and down very aisle just looking half the time.i sometimes make a list but usually there are things on sale that i like better than what i planned so i get those instead. i have learned that i can get pretty far for 3 weeks with $30 and a stack of coupons. :)
My grocery store is in walking distance but has a once-a-month 10% off day. So, I try to get all my nonperishables on that day (assuming my work schedule isn't too crazy; the store gets *so* crowded between 6pm and 9pm that day that I don't think the discount is worth the hassle) and, other than that, I walk over once or twice a week to pick up whatever perishables I happen to need. That way, I only buy milk when the last bottle runs out because if I buy it early, it'll go bad. Plus I get more exercise the more often I go (and only buy exactly what I need because I know I can always walk over another day). I also go to the farmer's market on Saturday mornings from May to October.
Well i work at a grocery store so whenever im out of something i will just pick it up after work. However, for like my hardcore grocery shopping, I go the day i get paid...which is every thursday.
Friday, if I have time after work. Otherwise Saturday or Sunday, depending on plans.
I always plan the full week's menu, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all the way down to my snacks & treats (if I can). I plan meals for the overall day's calorie intake, so if lunch is lite, I will do a little more hearty dinner. While I am at the store, I know exactly what I need for that week's meals.
By the end of the week, the fridge is pretty much empty.

how long does the planning take? do you ever deviate? do you write it down and post it somewhere so that you remember? do you have several go to meals that makes this an easy option for you...i know several questions but it seems effective and i would like to try it! :)
I love to grocery shop ever since my ED started. I would be obsessed with food, well I still kind of am! But anyways now I am recovering from my ED I actually LIKE food and EAT food. So now I love to go grocery shopping and pick out all nice and healthy foods that are good for my body :) I usually always go grocery shopping with my mom every Monday to do our main shop. Then I am always back at the store one or two more times that week to pick up other foods or stuff we forgot! Plus, we are always grocery shopping because there are five of us in a family. Three teenager girls who are all athletes, my mom, and my dad who has a wicked high metabolism (we call him the "garbage disposal)" because he eats everything and is wicked fit!
Before going to the grocery store you should always have a list of what you are going to buy so you don't forget anything and so you will not buy un-necessary items. It is also good to plan out your meals a couple days in advanced to know what you are going to make and to see if you have everything you need! Also, look for sales in the coupons, save you lots of money!
My family mostly shops at STOP & SHOP, target, shaws, & trader joes =)
