How often do you jump on the scale?

Quote  |  Reply

Just thought I'd throw this out there for fun!  How often you do you all check your scales?

I have been working out and watching my diet for almost 3 months now and have only checked the scale twice - once when I started and once last month.

I almost have a phobia about checking because I don't want to disappoint myself.  Of course, I know this is silly because how else would I check my progress....but...it's still nerve wracking!  Sometimes it's nice just to "imagine" I'm close to where I want to be! Smile

Nearly every morning. I only log it once a week though.

Wait, you've only checked twice...... IN 3 MONTHS!!!

Geez, I'm lucky if I can keep from getting on twice in a week!

I have been CCing since April and I weigh myself every single day sometimes 2 or 3 times a day to gauge about how much I gain in water a day. Some people will call this obsessive but it works well for me. I need constant reward and motivation and seeing that scale go down even a little each day keeps me on track. I also know whether or not I need to cut back on food a bit or keep on the same path. :-)

I weigh myself at 11:00 PM every night, so I can get a good, standard readout.  I do it once a day to get a weekly average that I can use to judge overall weight loss, and adjust my caloric intake as necessary =).

During my weight loss I used the scale once every Monday morning. I didn't want natural body fluctuations to demodivate me.  Now that I am in maintenance I check each morning .  Where I am in the range determines how many maintenance extras I have in a day.   I know I will eventually ease up but for now I helps me keep my eye on the ball.

Wow!! you guys are great to check so regularly!

Yep, I've only checked twice in three months.  Before starting CC I used to check weekly and NEVER saw the scale move.  Now, I am leary about checking that often and will only check at the end of every month...I think it's more fear of disappointment than anything else Undecided  I try to use my clothing as a gauge...but eventually *sigh* I think I will have to meet my fate on the dreaded scale!

i 'jump' on them all the time it makes me feel good to see a high number then drops down lol

I weigh myself every day, but that's because I'm within three-four pounds of my goal weight and am starting to shift into maintence. :-) And when I'm in maintence I'll be checking my weight every day and making sure it stays in the same five pound range.

i check once a week at the same time in the mornings.i would have absolutly no motivation if i couldnt see that was i was doing was working!

once or twice a day. I like to do it in the morning and night. I usually just end up doing it at night though.

I get on the scale everytime I open at work, which is about once every two weeks. We have one of those huge scales that takes a quarter to activate and I have based my weigh ins off of that one. I used to weigh myself every day but the realized how obsessive I was being.

I usually weigh myself every three to four days when I am losing just to make sure that I am keeping on track... once I begin maintaining I will probably weigh myself every morning:)

I weigh everyday as well, and I log my weight everyday.  I am aware of the fluctuations and it's been interesting to track my weight this way.  My weight always spikes up a pound or so for a day or two before I show another loss on the scale.

Weird... but true.

Monday - Friday.

Every morning as soon as I get up and go to the washroom.  I think thats when you weigh the least (hahaha)

Weekends - nope I need to step away and relax ;)

A couple of times a day. Every morning after I wake up and take a piss. This is the weight I record.

Sometimes I weigh myself right before I jump in the shower to see how many pounds of sweat I worked out of my system.

I may weight myself at other random times.

I don't worry about day to day fluctuations, and mainly stay concerned with my trend weight. For example right before I joined CC I had a couple of days where I was about equal to or a little above my trend weight (instead of my usual 4 or so pounds below my trend weight these days). This was easily explained by the two day food binge I went on, including much more sodium than I am sure is healthy for anyone at any weight to consume. I was ready for for the bad scale news, and knew it could not really have meant I ate an extra 14000 calories over the course of 2 days and gained 4 pounds of fat.

I also use a spread sheet from the Hacker's Diet which if you enter your weight daily it will tell you your trend weight and also your presumptive calorie deficit. This is an added check agains my guesstimated calorie and burn logs.

So I weigh myself, but only rely on one number, but am also looking at the big picture including trends and goals.

First thing every morning.

I'm the same, I hop on once or twice a day mostly in the mornings and sometime before I go to bed for some unknown reason.

I really shouldn't because when I feel I am working hard and I don't see a change in the scale it makes me feel so sad...it ruins my whole day. I know that there are other benefits to workingout and eating the right foods, but it is oh-so-easy to lose perspective.

That said, what's annoying me right now is the fact that everytime I get on, it goes down by one and then back up again - that is so annoying!

Ditto... except when I sleep somewhere else.

i weigh in daily out of curiosity, and it helps me be accountable

For me, the scale is relative number. I check often so that I know my normal fluctuation which is about a 3 pound range. So when I see a 2 pound weight loss I don't consider it real unless the range drops and I see the loss again.

If I only checked once a week and hit on one of my fluctuation days, I could be upset. Since I check often I can surmise that it is likely water weight or some other temporary cause vs weight gain.
