I am finally at a place in my life where I am able to make working out a priority. I have been battling with my weight since a young age, and am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I believe I have about 40 more lbs to lose after already losing 100 lbs.
I'm tired of the whole dieting B/S and want to lead a healthy eating lifestyle, which I'm pretty sure I am doing.
I just want to know what good working out routine should consist of. I am currently working out 5 days a week, 3 days of 1/2 hour weight, and 1/2 hour cardio, and 2 days of 1 hour cardio. All my cardio is done on the elliptical machine, I love it, but is this enough if I'm eating 1500-1800 calories a day?
Congratulations on 100+ lost so far! You must feel so much better!
Watch your burn meter...it all depends on your body size. I am very tall for a woman - 6' - so that would barely be enough calories for me on most days. I eat 1500 when I DON'T work out at all - today I went out campaigning for an hour and a half (300 calories) and did 55 minutes on the elliptical (500 - was a slow work out) and ate 2000 calories to keep within my 1000 calorie deficit. Your workout plan sounds great. If you hit a plateau you might want to vary which workout you do on the elliptical, or maybe use a treadmill on incline for a nice change. I've lost the weight before but put it back on again. This site is the first program that I know I can stick with for a permanent lifestyle change. Knowing the 500-1000 calorie deficit is something I've been asking about for years - don't know why the nutritionist's have never mentioned that number before. I've always lost by eating 1200 - 1500 calories every day, and that is not maintainable for me. Now I know I can eat ANYTHING I want to, and how to burn those calories before they turn to fat.
