How often do you track your weight?

Hi All,

I'm new here and was just wondering how often you weigh yourself and track your weight on this website.

Thanks!

I know there's controversy about this, but I weigh myself first thing in the morning when I wake up. It's consistent and then I don't forget!

There are two schools of weight measurement... actually three!

I weigh every morning because then I can track my fluctuations better... some people prefer to do it once a week at the same time... and if you're towards the end of your diet and don't have a lot to lose or you're maintaining, you might even want to drop back to once a month just to make sure that you're still on track without obsessing about it.

I weight myself everyday so i can keep track on my maintaining. I write it down in my journal.
I weigh myself mostly every morning, but I usually only log it on the site if it's gone down, or seems to be significant and not just a random fluctuation. Usually it's in 1.5 pounds increments for me.

I track fluctuations every day except for before my period. I'm currently on the pill so when I switch from active pills to the period-week sugar pills I ignore the scale.

Bloating just throws me off and makes me feel bad because I'm 'gaining' weight that will drop away in a week anyways.

I also do the before breakfast bit. It took me a while to remember (I'm groggy when I wake up, haha), but it becomes habit after a bit.

If I've recently upped my weights in strength training I also ignore the scale a bit because the added weight from new muscle tends to bum me out.

Some people ignore the scale entirely and go by measuring tapes only.

I also weigh myself every morning and log it.  It really helps me to not worry so much about the ups and downs because it constantly fluctuates.  I'm in maintenance mode right now, but over the 16 months of losing weight, it was never a constant downward trend, it was down 2 up 1 down 2 etc etc.
once ever one to two weeks
I weigh myself pretty much every Saturday AM at around the same time.  This is my baseline weigh in.  I do it at the gym before working out since we don't have a scale at home.  I may weigh myself at other times in the week, but I don't take as much stock in those as the time of day varies.  Those are more am I staying in the same ballpark.  Ultimately, though I look at the overall trend of the weights combined.  Is that heading where I want it (down is the desired goal right now, but soon, I will be on maintenance)?  If it is then I am happy.
I weigh myself first thing in the morning, every morning.
once per week for me :)

Well, we got rid of our old scale about a year or so ago and have yet to replace it. But since I'm at the doctor's office a lot I get weighed roughly every 3 to 5 weeks. Since I started trying to lose weight earlier this year I considered buying a new one, but then decided I didn't want to obsess over the pounds. I wanted to fit into my old size 8 jeans more than I wanted to reach a number. But when I wasn't really losing the weight I became more committed to changing my eating habits and now that the pounds are dropping off I'm a bit more focused on the number, but still haven't bought a new scale because I don't want it to rule my life. When I feel like I'm closer to my goal, then I will buy a scale.
Every night, last thing before I go to bed. Usually around 11 pm or at least three hours after supper. I have a chart stuck to my wall in front of my scale where I record my weight and fat percentage.

A lot of people will disagree with the night method, but I find that my evening weight varies less than my morning weight. I also tend to think it's a better representation of what I weigh during a typical day than the lower morning value.
every morning... But when you put it into the system look at the green line... it is a better estimate of loss or gain then your day to day!
I haven't weighed myself in almost 2 years.  In March it will have been 2 years since i've stepped on a scale to find out my weight.

I also don't measure myself.  The only measure I use is clothing fit and size.

I weigh and record every morning, and I expect that I will for the rest of my life.  After a year and a half of it, I know my body, and I know what is a normal fluctuation and what is a trend, and I want to avoid negative trends.

Besides recording the daily weight, I also pay particular attention to a weekly weight on Friday mornings and a monthly date as well, for seeing the overall trends.

hi ,

some suggestion here, probably u can weight urself everyday . but i think it is a good practice to record your weight once a week.

everyday is critical to understand your trend.
Hi there!  I was weighing myself every morning and it is a good tool to keep track of fluctuations, but it just drove me crazy, so I started only weighing myself on Sunday mornings when I wake up.  It has worked great for me and it keeps my mind off of my weight and more on how I feel.  I can always feel the difference on how my clothing fits!
I weigh in once a week. More than that is too much.
