How often do you weigh in...??

Quote  |  Reply

For the first two months I started using CC I would only weigh in once a month at the doctors office. This was for two reasons... one was that at that time I was taking Phentermine to help supress my appetite, and the other being I hate scales as they can really ruin your day if you don't see good results.

After two months I stoped the Phentermine and over the holidays I didn't even bother getting on the scale because I knew I wasn't loosing weight....   no way. Had to have a few glasses of egg nog, some of the other goodies that also go with the season. Well, in early January I finally mustered up the courage to get back on the bathroom scales and face the music. I had put on 7lbs.... YIKES!!  Not to despair... back onto my program and in less than two weeks I was back on track and lost that weight.  (Humm... lesson here tells me that in the future if I do have a jolly good ole time over holidays or on cruise... don't wait too long and you can take off those few pounds pretty quick)

OK...  so for the pass two weeks I started weighing in on a weekly basis and the scales were not nice to me. Week one... no loss, Week two...no loss. Now wait a minute here.  My records say that I should have lost at least 3lbs... maybe 4. Well, for one thing I weighed in both times on Monday, and that is right after my weekends where I usually have an off day as I save up some calories for that purpose during the week.  Sunday we had a nice dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, culiflower, cranberry sauce, rolls, and low fat pudding. I was pretty good by watching my portions.... so why no loss.  I think now that it was all that sodium in the gravey... oh I forgot about that.....     On Tuesday morning I mustered up the courage to once again step onto the scale and in just one day my weight had now droped 3 lbs... YEA!!  And this after having 4 cups of coffee and a Lean Pocket for breakfast.

I have now decided that this Friday... not Monday, I will weigh in before my off day. I expect to see the weight appear that I expected on Monday. And from now on I also plan to go back to weighing in only once a month. That will be the first day of each month. I have very reasonable expectations and will be happy with a loss of just 1lb a week, and if I have more than that.... all the better.

Ok...   So, share with me please your weighing in theories...horror stories... whatever.

I know most people don't agree with this - but I weigh myself every morning. It motivates me to continue to count my calories.

If my weight has gone down then the excitement of losing weight motivates me to keep it up.

If my weigth has gone up or stayed the same, I'm reminded that I'd better watch what I eat or I will contiue to not lose wieght.

Again, most people don't agree with this, but it's worked for me.

:)

I weigh every day but shouldn't. I know that weight fluctuates, so I don't start to panic majorly till I see an upwards trend for like 3 days or so. BUT I do feel that for me this works.

However, as I posted elsewhere on the site, I have to say that when I get to target I would like to throw the damn scales in the bin!!!

i weight myself every day, though its been only 2 weeks so far.  i have a tanita innerscan body composition scale.  i felt very tired and dizzy and got on the scale because i thought i hadnt been eating enough:  it turns out i was dehydrated!  i also notice changes in how i look in the mirror (i was athletic until about 3 years ago when both parents and my brother passed away).  i find the scale gives me incentive for right now.  i used to weight myself 1x every 1- months, but right now i need the daily visit.  weight fluctuates, yeah, but i feel it gives me a nudge in the way i want to go.

I only weigh once a week.  I think I would go nuts if I did it more often.  I have a tanita also and I love it.  It shows the muscle weight too so if my weight goes up and the muscle went up too I don't freak out because I know it went up because of more muscle.

Today is my offical monthly weigh in day.... So, I came in just above 346, so I am calling it 347. Not bad for the month since I started out at 357 due to the 5 lbs I put on at Christmas. Goal for March 1st weigh in is 340. Todate I have droped 35lbs since starting this program in October, so I am right on course which tells me what I am doing now is working... YEA!!

I can fully understand how some can weigh in daily, but I would not be able to do it because I would be a bear on the days that for some reason the scale tipped in the wrong direction. By doing it monthly... if I have been good, I know there is going to be some loss, the more the better.
