How often do you recommend weighing? I'd like your thoughts on what you have found to work best - weighing once a week- twice a week - everyday? Thanks for the input!!!

Once a week. I usually weigh on Firdays right in the morning after i go potty. Your weight fluctates with water and if you weight everyday it can get discouraging I think!!
I myself weigh everyday as it motivates me more to see Im loosing weight and if the scales stay the same i know i have not eaten wrong so it really helps me to weigh everyday first thing in the morning after my morning let go.
Twice a day. Once on the morning and once on a night. I take an average of the two for my weight log here.
I generally don't weigh everyday. I weighed for the first month since I started dieting (2 months). I think I may now start to weigh at least once a month.
I weighed for the first time this morning. I now weigh 238 pounds. I still have a long ways to go but God has brought me a mighty long way. I started at 269. I'm so excited and I feel better about myself. I'm taking one day at a time.
Once a week gives you a truer picture. Daily weighing can be misleading. Your body-weight naturally goes up and down every day for all sorts of reasons and these can be totally unrelated to how much you ate, drank or exercised the day before. When a number on a set of scales starts to dictate how happy you are for the day then that's not healthy.
Once a week, usually on Monday Mornings..keeps me honest for the weekends.

Update.... I lost 4 1/2 pounds since my last weigh in. I'm still hanging in there. I'm still taking one day at a time and with the help of the Lord I will reach my goal. Thanks for the encouragement you all provide. Please update me as to how you're doing as well.............
Maintaining: Once a week.
Losing: Every day or two (but not over the weekend...those are my free times!).
While losing, everyday makes for a more accurate trend line and lets you know what you're doing right or wrong. When maintaining, once a week is really all you need. Kind of a "yup, still that weight" thing.

I've been weighing in daily...not sure why....it just makes me depressed and want to....well......never mind.....just not a good idea to do that I don't think
I weigh myself everyday. Usually several times throughtout the day too. I log it once a day though - the first one first thing in the AM
Its whatever works for you. Some folks say never weigh everyday and then I've read somewhere else that people who weigh in everyday show better losses so who knows whos right.

I agree with dbackerfan. I've heard, fairly recently that people who weigh everyday do show more weight loss.
I have weighed in twice a day, everyday for a long time now. Does it get discouraging... sometimes, but it makes me work harder. Wednesday is my offical weigh in for the week, but I like to keep myself on task by weighing in throughout the week. I feel more accountable for my actions that way.

I weigh each morning when I get up after going to the bathroom before I shower. I find it helps keep me responsible and motivated. Yes I see fluctuations in my weight but it have also helped me learn how things like salt and my monthly cycle effect my weight. Also I see how drinking more water in the evening really seems to help battle retaining water. And if I stall at weight for a few days I change my exercise, what I am eating a little and maybe my daily deficit. If I was weighing weekly or monthly I'd miss all that, and worse of all maybe my weigh in day would be on a day I was bloated. Oh I sometimes I weigh during the day and/or at bedtime. Morning is usually my lowest weight for the day.
I think you should weigh every morning as it really helps keep you motivated and you know what to eat and waht not to eat.. If I weigh and I have gained some I know to try harder that day and it works
Depends on the person. I didn't have a scale when I started, and weighing once a month was fine for me. I didn't need to see a number to stay motivated; I wanted to eat more healthfully and knew the weight would take care of itself if I did.
I think weighing in once a week on Monday's (after going to the bathroom) works better for me.
When I'm good and hop on the scale each day it's the biggest motivator for me. If I am up a pound, I want to go to the gym and loose it. If I'm down a pound I get so excited that I want to keep on track.
Unless seeing a number you don't like on the scale is detrimental to you because it causes you to give up or get neurotic, I totally reccomend weighing once every day!
This is because weighing once a day gives you the 'big picture' about your weight, i.e. you will have weight fluctuations, but you'll be aware of what the general trend is, and THAT'S the number that's important: the average.
If you only weigh once a week, you may be fluctuating by about 5 pounds on the particular day you weigh, but you'd never know it because you are missing what all the other days weights are.

i was obsessed with weighing s i threw away my scale and now I only weigh when i go to my mothers house. once every one or two weeks!
I step on the scale whenever I feel like when I see the magic number I won't get too frustrated or upset if it's not as low as I'd hoped, like if I'm having a bad day theres no way I'm going to get up on that scale...so when I'm in a good mood lol so that's about 2-3 times a week (and as always its the 1st thing I do in the mornings after I do alittle business)
