So far so good on the calorie thing...

Until the dreaded evening meal.  I grab a snack between work and whatever I have to do that evening whether its more work, studing for the LSAT, orchestra, chior, studing french, or hanging out with friends.  My evening meal is usually late- around 8 and since I don't cook it, it's usually not exactly what someone on a diet should eat and by that I mean anything and everything. Any advise to help me not to blow my entire day at night?

Soup.  Eat soup.  The brothy kind not the creamy kind.  You can have up to two portions of pretty much any kind of soup and not feel bad.

Its good for you, its filling, and you can get it pretty much anywhere.  Panera, Au Bon Pain, and any local deli usually have good soups on hand.  You can even go to a diner they always have soup specials.

Since you eat around 8pm no one will question your food choice.  Another good thing is were coming up into the fall and winter seasons...so fill yourself up.

BTW...skip the bread when dining out

You are over scheduled and not making time to make a decent meal. You have to make meal prep part of your schedule for the week. That may mean dropping one activity so you can shop , chop and cook. Setting a couple hours aside on Sunday may be easiest.

I am guilty of the same thing - putting healthy eating last after kids, homework, soccer etc.

I bought a slow cooker and that is a God -send. You can throw everything in there  at 7 am and push the button . Whenever you get home it will be ready.

You can also take soup, chili or similar in a thermos.

I notice that all my skinny friends do a whole lot less than I do in the course of a week. I think if you have a weight problem you want to tackle for life then you need to make proper eating a priority. Isn't it worth it to drop one activity in order to have a stable weight for life ?

Give it serious thought.
