Last night at work, our Human Resources Department sponsored a Pizza Night. Being a lady with basically no willpower, I decided I would enjoy a slice or two - the first time in two weeks that I strayed from what has been an exceptionally healthy lifestyle change.
I ended up eating 2 slices - the first, a veggie lovers slice, with peppers and onions and black olives and mushrooms and all those other wonderful flavors. The second, a meat lovers slice with pepperoni, sausage, hamburger and probably some other meats. They also had cookies - and of course, I had to have one of each, a sugar cookie and a chocolate chip cookie.
About an hour or two later, my skin was literally cold and clammy and my stomach hurt so bad I could hardly stand it. I got pale and shaky and just felt awful for hours. It was so bad it ended up "derailing" my efforts at eating well today - I skipped breakfast, ate a just terrible lunch, and didn't get back on track until dinner time tonight. I still feel kind of bad - bloated, and my stomach still hurts. I haven't been hungry at all today, but I did eat because I know I have to. I even went out and walked a mile and a half thinking that might get things "worked out" but it didn't help much.
Could this really truly be the result of just two weeks of healthier eating??? I *never* want to feel like that again - it was awful :(

Sounds like a panic attack to me..
No - not a panic attack - too calm a person for that - I was completely unstressed - actually only had two patients at that time - calmest night I've had at work in about 2 years :) Maybe I was anxious because it was too calm? It actually sort of felt like when my blood sugar used to drop (I have a hypoglycemic history and would drop into the 30's and 40's) but when I checked it, it was 90 - good.
Very bizarre, whatever it was, and no fun at all.
Thanks for replying though.

sometimes when we get used to eating a healthier diet and our body is detoxed some when we shock it again with rich heavy foods we can feel bloated and have a belly ache etc.
The good news is that's incentive to get back on the wagon :) and also don't beat yourself up for having a little splurge now and then. One thing that helped me (I LOVE pizza) is to budget a pizza into my calories now and then.... a healthy pizza like the veggie one or make one with low fat mozarella and really good homemade sauce and veggies. Pizza can be a part of a healthy diet and os can the occassional cookie :)
Hang in there and I hope you feel better. Also if you fall off, don't ever use that as an excuse or reason to abuse your body the next day... love your body and eat healthier foods the next day. Increase fiber/water to "cleanse" the body after a day of not so fabulous eating.

call me crazy but is it possible you had food poisoning? Maybe the pizza was handles carelessly ...
When your body isn't used to consuming greasy, rich, sugary foods because you essentially cut them out of your diet or limited them, then your body is bound to freak out when you put those foods back in your system in large amounts. Your body no longer knows how to deal with the large amount of grease, fat, and sugar that eating that food had. If you had eaten a little bit of those foods, however, it probably wouldn't have bothered you that much, if at all. Everything in moderation.
The same thing happened to me about a month ago. I was "bad" and ate a bunch of greasy fried food at a family dinner at Applebees. Boy, did I pay for that...I EXPLODED about an hour later and felt absolutely awful for the rest of the night. No worries though...I got right back on track and you will too!:p
i would like to point out that 2 slices of pizza and 2 cookies would not cause such severe intolerance. Especially since it's only been 2 weeks ...
I am almost convinced it's a mild case of food poisoning...

the exact same thing happened to me. I got so sick off of just two slices of pizza, it was horrible. I think it was because I hadn't had pizza in about a month.
could have been food poisoning but coworkers ate the pizza and didn't get sick and I vomit from almost anything and didn't - just felt bad. I don't know - I"m just going to chalk it up to a very strange but very bad experience, link it somehow to my illness and my blood sugar issues and move on.
I appreciate the comments everyone has made :)

I had a similar reaction happen last weekend, after having a pasta meal that was drowning in olive oil. Even though I stopped eating it after 1/4 of the way through... it was just too much fat for my system to handle, now that my stomach has shrunk.
Also if you have a history of gallbladder issues, this can happen with an overload of fat.

My mother in law eats a very healthy diet. One day we all went out to lunch for pizza together. She ate a few pieces and was violently ill half an hour later. I think it was just too rich for her b/c no one else felt badly.
I think it's definitely possible that your body wasn't ready for that much grease at once.

The cold clammy feeling could have been from the sugar rush and subsequent crash from the cookies. The stomach sensations, maybe from having so much unaccustomed fat. Eat light and wait it out.
Now that I am eating healthier if I eat any fast food/greasy, fatty, too sugary food I get really sick to my stomach.
Sometimes I forget and I pay for it! And I go back right away to my healthy eating and feel alot better. For me eating healthy makes me feel good.
But I can have a healthy pizza! Called Crazy Plates Pizza I buy at the grocery store, they have 3 varieties but I only have tried 2, the Kicken' Chicken, and the Las Veggies...both with a thin whole wheat crust and low cal cheese topping. And tastes execellent!

The EXACT same thing happens to me when I diet and then eat something very greasy and/or high in fat. I'm and "all or nothing" type of dieter and when I'm on "all" I eat only lean proteins and vegetables, nothing fried, etc. After only a couple weeks of doing this, if I'm to eat something like quesadillas (which I could have 3 of and have no problem with pre-diet), I end up in the bathroom about an hour later with terrible stomach problems.
