Here goes my story (again): underate for months, lost my period, went to the doctor last march, was made to gain weight, gained weight, got my period back.

I wish it could end there, but the thing is..I think I've lost my period again.

It's only been a little more than a month since I last got my period (so I can't tell yet if it's amenorrhea), but I'm worried like hell.

I'm not sure, but if this is amenorrhea . . I dunno. I'm supposed to eat 2000 cals a day, but around 3-4 times a week I only get to eat 1600-1900, since I don't always have time to count or eat back the missing calories. I do 150 minutes of cardio a week (sometimes low-impact, sometimes high) and strength-train 3x a week (using 3 pound dumbells). I dunno, I don't think the numbers are to the extremes - in fact I think I'm healthy. I don't know if I've lost any weight since I got my period back - in the first place, I don't know how much weight I gained.

At times, when I'm in school, I feel really sleepy..and I get hungry easily - like I need to eat something every 2 hours(but I can't since we don't have recess time - yes, I'm serious. I just eat snacks while moving to the next classroom).

Then again, I've been a bit stressed out lately - on most nights I get only 7 hours of sleep 'cause of school and my choir and all that stuff.

I'm 15, by the way.

Could this be amenorrhea..AGAIN?! any help would be great. I'm really, really scared.

Amenorrhea means losing your period 3 times in a row. So even if you skip this once, it's not amenorrhea, it's simply skipping once. Stop stressing (it's a cause), stop over-exercising (it's a cause) and eat more if you have to (undereating is a cause).

Counting - You don't have to do the actual math. Learn to guesstimate. Say you eat an 2 apples, a sandwitch with meat a portion of french fries and a soup. A piece of fruit is usually 100 calories, a sandwitch can be 200-400 calories, french fries is about 300 calories for a medium fast food portion and a soup is 100-200 calories. It's not precise, but you'd know you still need to eat something even if it sounds a lot.

Since you're 15 your period might still be a little irregular from whenever you first started it. It could also be irregular since you just started it again. Don't fret. If you really think something is wrong, ask for doctor for a medical opinion.

Because you're 15, check out the above site to judge what your intake should be.  2000 is really the minimum you need and I suspect that the sleepiness you describe is either low blood-sugars (due to lack of food) or some kind of vitamin deficiency... low iron stores are very common in young women who have a poor diet.

If you're worried, always talk to your doctor.

yep. I guess I'll just have to add more "invisible" calories to my food (since I don't always have the time to eat a lot of low-cal stuff, especially on hectic school days!) like (healthy) oils and eat more calorie-dense food. I hope that brings it back. Thanks, guys!

but do you guys think I'm really overexercising? .. I've read that people should do 30 minutes of moderate-intensity workouts 5 times a week..and that's what I do. I dunno.
