Oh fudge

Quote  |  Reply

One of the ladies at work brought back a piece of peanut butter/chocolate fudge from her recent trip to Door County.

I was good, I only had the teeniest piece (maybe 1 oz or less). One good thing about fudge is it is so rich that you don't really need a lot to be satisfied.

Go me! :) *dances*

Great "subject line" on this forum.  Reminds me of something that my daughter and a friend of hers (who is now in medical school) came up with:  the "Calories to Goodness" ratio.

Their philosopy:  there are foods that are high in calories, and also high in goodness (fudge, chocolate, cheese, butter, a cold beer, Haagen-Dasz).   There are also foods that are low in calories and high in goodness (blueberries, whipped cream, roast chicken, asparagus).  There are, however, lots of foods that are high in calories and low in goodness (beef jerky, ding-dongs, velveeta, fast-food burgers).

I've found the "Calories to Goodness Ratio" to be a fun way of thinking about/rationalizing an occasional treat that I enjoy in moderation.

Wisconsin has THE best fudge. I lived there for a long time, and went back to visit family this summer. We stocked up on chocolate amaretto, lemon cookie and maple nut. Mmmmm.

The best fudge I ever had was creme brulee fudge that we got from a little town outside of Melbourne Australia.  It was fantastic.  I rationed it out for a week to make it last as long as I could!

Don't go into the Hershey's store, they give you free samples of fudge.
