OH MY GOD!!!!!! i think i might die.
ok i have several problems right now.
1. i just bought new scales and it turns out i am 9lbs heavier than i thought i was. seriously pissed off about that.
2. i re entered my info so that my diet profile would be adjusted and my calories intake dropped from 1600 to 1200!!! WTF!?!?!?!
i am so mad right now. i have been trying so hard the past month and it turns out i havent been doing anything right.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. no scale is a perfect instrument. you didn't gain 9 pounds; you just have a new baseline.
2. you must have inadvertently changed something else in your profile. did you accidentally switch from active to sedentary?
unless you're an adult and you sit on your butt all day, you need to eat more than 1200. is 1991 your birth year? if so, 1600 is a bare minimum. you should probably be eating 1800 or 2000 a day. your brain is still growing. you don't want to starve your brain, do you?
PS: those pants scare me. could you change them, please?
As has been said - if you're under 21 you're still growing and CC's tools are inaccurate for you. You need to use a calculator such as http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html, which is specifically aimed and designed for under 21's as you're still growing - yes, even in later years. You can't see your organs or bones developing, after all. Work out your caloric needs using that link.
Bring your scale back and buy something else with your money.
Scales are evil and they lie.
You are eating healthy, right? Exercising, right?
Relax, eat properly, move your body, meditate a bit and have some fun with this.
And please do not consume less than 1600 calories a day.
Im with you on this one. when i first signed up I wasnt losing anything and couldnt for the life of me figure out what was going on I wasnt losing a thing. I kept checking my info over and over. Wel one night I finally found what the deal was I had it checked I was a male LMAO! how in the world did I miss that.
to be honest, i stopped growing when i was about 14 (ridiculously early developer) so i should be fine with what CC says for adults. and i know i haven't gained 9lbs, im just so mad that i didn't know had that extra way to go.
but don't worry, im still eating! i'm not going to go all starvation on you. and i went to the gym this morning and have a very healthy day planned out. also, my sister has decided she needs to lose weight and has joined CC too (she was also disgusted by her real weight) so we can be angry at our old scales together!
p.s. im sorry if the leggings freak you out, but it was halloween and i was dressed as the 80s. but if you want the full effect of those bad boys you should see me in person..... oh how they cling to my thunder thighs!!!

No, you didn't. You might have stopped growing taller, but you are still developing. Your body, your brain... you need more calories than adults do. I reached my full height in high school, but when I got to college - bam! my body changed. Trust us on this. The adult counters are NOT appropriate for you.
i didn't mean height. i meant my body. i hit 5'4" when i was like 11 or 12. my body was done developing early.
your pants are AWESOME.
lmao... thanks!!

so you don't care about your bones, brain and other organs? okay.

I hope for her sake that her brain did not stop developing at 14, as well.
ok.... ou guys are getting quite mean.....
anyway, i think i might point out to CC what most of you guys are saying. the suggested calories obviously don't take my age into account. if i shouldn't be eating less than 1600 calories but CC tells me to only eat 1200 then im sure there are plenty of others here who are eating too little.
thanks for the help!
see post #2.
you asked a question, you got honest answers. don't like those answers? sorry.
no need to be rude about it! and i'm not saying i don't like the answers, i'm actually quite glad i found this out before i started eating less and doing more damage. but maybe CC could add that into their programming so that people my age can still count calories without damaging their health.
What date did you pick for your goal weight? I'm guessing you picked something too agressive, which is why it's giving you 1200 calories. Please make sure you won't be losing more than a pound or two per week given your goal weight and time line. Anything more is unhealthy and will probably not stay off.
my goal date is june 18th. that gives me 18 weeks. so if i lose 1-2lbs a week i should reach it in time. i think that's a reasonable time frame, but if im not at my exact goal weight, i won't be too worried. i rather spend an extra month getting there than losing weight quickly and putting it straight back on.
also, i went on the website mentioned before and it said i should be eating 2200 calories a day to maintain. but it also said that i was definitely overweight. 2200 sounds like a normal amount to eat (and its what i plan to go back to) but i do think undereating by 1000 calories is a bit ridiculous for a diet. im going to aim for 1600 most days and just get more exercise to lose weight. that way i won't starve and ill hopefully keep the weight off.
know the feeling, i did exactly the same thing. i was a stone heavier than what i thought i was after getting some new scales. felt really depressed.
quite pissed off about the way you can jump on the scales 3 times after each other and it is slightly different each time!

Remember the deficit should never be more than 1000, so be careful about how much you exercise, too. You should be fine at 1600 + moderate exercise but eat a little more on the days you work out if you feel hungrier b/c it can be a sign you are getting over the 1000 cal deficit.
i knew over a thousand was unhealthy, but is a thousand ok? i only ask because i joined one of those challenges and my total deficit for feb should be 28,000 - 1000 a day. to be honest im quite behind but is 1000 unhealthy, or is it only going over that?
It depends on your starting weight. For you, I'd recommend starting with only 500 and going from there. You just aren't large enough to sustain a huge deficit.
Challenges are great if they motivate you, but never do something the unhealthy way just because you signed up for one.
edit to add: I just looked at the challenge - you could assign yourself to whichever deficit group you wanted - just tell the organizer that you want to be in the 14000 (4lb) group instead!
