Weight Loss

My boss just told me that she and her husband (my other boss) were talking about how to help us all (the employees) be happier people this year and she said that he wanted to "help me out" eg: pay for, a month of something like Weight Watchers.
Granted, I am very close to my employers, and I was talking to a coworker about my fresh attempt at weight loss when she brought it up, but don't you think this is taking it a step too far?

Yeah, thats crossing aline in my opinion.  Its not like you had said you wanted to join to her right?  It was to a coworker and she really was out of place.
Sounds like they were just trying to be nice. I'm sure they didn't mean to offend you.
Shoot-- my feelings would have been hurt--but just for a minute. I say take advantage of the opportunity. If they're willing to pay for you, maybe suggest paying for your gym membership (if you go to one). If my boss offered to help me out financially with my health goals I'd be all over it. You did say that you were close with your employer--so I'm sure she didn't mean any harm.
I'm actually not offended...more like hurt. It's not like I need anyone to tell me how fat I am...it's painfully obvious already.

Wow.  Bold.  Puts you in a bad place either way.

You have to remember that people try to "help" yet most of the time the way they come across just come out completely wrong.  It sounds like they have good intentions.  I'm amazed at what comes out of peoples mouths sometime.   I'm quick at putting a smile on my face and say " Bring it on".  Act like a duck and let it roll off your back.

If insurance companies do it, I don't see why it's bad for your boss to do it. All the same, if she offered to "help out" everyone in the company who was interested in Weight Watchers, it would have been a little more PC.
