Oh this is rich...
I dunno my first thought was that she was staging a house ( you know like for sale). Keep an eye on it... I wonder what the odds are that she returns most if not all in the next 30 days?
I think we all at one point or another like to complain about those who have more than us. it's just natural.
Was she really a b****?
If I had enough money to through around 12 g's on fake shrubbery I totally would.
I would call it "Schnood's Shrub Hub"
You would totally come.
Wow, I totally envy her. I love decorating... wish I had $12,000 to spend. Hell, I wish I had $100 to spend, lol.
well, I suppose the customer wasn't a complete b*itch...she was more like one of those hoity-toity rich desperate housewives who don't have anything else to do, but spend money. I guess she thought she was doing her duty to the economy by buying $12,000 of accessories, but I bet you anything she's going to end up returning most of it by the end of the month (or when her hubby sees the credit card bill). Plus, she kept asking "if it doesn't work in the room, then I can return it, right?"
Or maybe she's an oniomaniac, which is a person who is addicted to shopping, so she compulsively spends money on fake houseplants & other knick knacks. If that were the case, then it would be quite funny.

Well good thing you got her instead of me....I'm a kleptomaniac. At least you got paid for the stuff, right? ![]()
tahitisweetie, maybe it's time to get out of retail.
lol...that's true, she did pay for everything in full & didn't even flinch when she handed over the credit card.
Two of my brothers are insanely financially successful and their wives drop mad money on things that blow my mind - you get used to it over time but still its mind boggling when I stop to think about it. Im not envious - I'd feel totally ripped off overspending like that.
Peaches make a great point though - how many people in the world would feel the same towards me for throwing money at indoor plumbing and electricity?
And those fake plants ARE to die for! Furniture stores have cream of the crop. Couldnt care less seeing them drop $400 on some dodad sculpture but those great plants might have me hating.
On the other hand - was her card verified, did she have ID? I can imagine using a stolen card to buy a lot of stuff and hawking it "discounted" on e-bay to make cash.
It is a very old trick in fact. Before e-bay it was the flea market. I think I would have called the cc company on that one.
With 12 G's to spare I think I would opt for real plants.
A fake plant... personally I cannot think of anything less useless. At least real plants are helping the environment! I would totally go for real plants if I had that much money. But I still can't imagine spending $12,000 on accessories. Maybe on a car!!
ummm...judged anyone based on preconceived notions and steroetypes lately?
How you do you know she hasn't saved her money for years to be able to afford a new house and the decorations she wants? I know thats how I do things. I save enough to buy whatever I want, and then I go get it all at once.
Funny how we all complain when people judge us based on one quick interaction, and yet....

I work at a furniture store and the most ridiculous thing happened today at work--a customer spent over $12,000 on accessories. Yep, accessories--you know, cute little fake plants, pictures, vases, knick knacks and such. I think it's great that she spent that much money but it pisses me off at the same time because I would tell that she is probably a rich-b*tch housewife that hasn't worked a day in her life & that her hubby pays all the bills inbetween her botox injections & plastic surgery. God, it makes me sick that some people will throw money away like that as if it's nothing when others (such as myself) are struggling to make ends meet, work nights & weekends, and try not to spend a single dime because we don't know how much worse the economy is going to get. Then this rich b*tch flonces in & buys $12,000 of fake house plants as if it's just Monopoly money. (Or rather, on her credit card, but what normal person can afford to do that?). Plus, she kept me an hour & 15 minutes past closing time because her sales person wanted to close the sale. Grrrr
Anyway, that's my rant for the evening.
Ummmm I personally dont get irritated with what others have...I change the focus and look at what "I" have and do...I am thankful to be able to have the essentials in life and what others have is personally no big deal (to me)...they could have won the $, inherited it, maybe stole it (ok I would care if they stole it) but otherwise it doesnt matter what they or she has (in my book)....in the end we all live and die (no matter how rich or poor we are)...so in essence it falls into my category of "so what"? So what if they do....who cares? They could easily get hit by a beer truck just like me...in the end it doesnt really matter. My 2 cents!

I thought the same thing. However, we don't know Tahitisweeties situation. Maybe she's in such a fix that money and basic living is always on her mind. When you're in a tough place, it's easy to be envious of those who appear to have it all.
But it is funny that that's what people first jump to - she must be a rich b**ch. People think that of my husband and me all the time because we drop a fair amount of cash skydiving (it's not a cheap hobby). What they fail to notice is that we hardly ever buy new clothes (except for the bare minimum that I've had to buy since losing weight), rarely travel, and our house decor is best described as hand-me-down minimalistic. We're not rich, and we don't waste money. We spend it on what's important to us.
i don't have anything to say really......so she spent $12,000 the fact she bought fake plants makes me think they are not for her own house but some show homes or something, but who knows.
oh come on y'all...you don't find it a little bit amusing that this woman would spend over $12,000 on fake houseplants & knick knacks? I've had people spend $20,000 on top-of-the-line, high quality furniture before, but never on fake plants.
I still think she's an oniomanic. Just my opinion ![]()

Actually, this was my first thought too. I've heard of realtors who spend that much money to spruce up houses they're trying to sell, and put it down as a tax write off.

Whoever invented fake plants had me in mind. I can barely keep a cactus alive. Either too much or too little water. Or the cat eats it.
