i don't have anything to say really......so she spent $12,000 the fact she bought fake plants makes me think they are not for her own house but some show homes or something, but who knows.

Actually, this was my first thought too. I've heard of realtors who spend that much money to spruce up houses they're trying to sell, and put it down as a tax write off.

Whoever invented fake plants had me in mind.  I can barely keep a cactus alive.  Either too much or too little water.  Or the cat eats it.

Poor plant! Wink

Sorry I just dont see the problem with her spending that money.  Its hers.  We have know idea where it came from so lets not assume its from her rich husband.  Would you think the same way if it was a man coming in and buying the same things?   In this economy hoarding money is the exact opposite of economy stimulis that is needed.

And put it this way you need people like this to keep the store running

You're upset that a customer is spending money to pay your salary?

hmmmm....

Think "Customer centricity" (corporate buzzword)...  Your company exists to provide a product or service to a customer.  Do that better than your competitors and you build customer loyalty.

Spuckine hit it on the head though, It's her money.

oh nevermind, I posted the scenerio because I thought it was amusing that someone would spend that much money on fake houseplants.  I thought it was a funny thing to buy, but didn't realize people were going to get all up in arms about it.

She can keep on buying fake houseplants to her heart's content & I won't say mum about it. Foot in mouth

Maybe she's having a manic bi-polar episode... my mother did that about 5 years back.  She spent 5 grand on a sofa and love seat.  She could also be a shopaholic.  Who knows!

Maybe she's a set designer and they're staging a play about being in the jungle. :)

Um,....you said "it makes me sick", judged a person you had never met before as a b*tch, and even ended the rant with a "grr."    If that's amused, your angry posts must be fascinating.

Granted, $12,000 in fake house plants may seem like a strange thing to buy to someone who doesn't have the money or a use for them.  I mean, I see people in Sam's and I think - geez, I wonder what use someone has for a 4 gallon drum of olive oil.  I go the clean route and assume they own a restaurant or like to cook.

well, at least she won't have to worry about watering them.

Anyway, I've obviously confused a lot of people with the post, so I'll just end it...thanks for the replies--they have been interesting & entertaining.

I don't think you confused us...I think you didn't get the reaction you expected. That really shouldn't surprise you, because many of the people who frequent this site have suffered the judgement of other people because of their weight. Most of us try not to do the same to othersfor any reason.

*sigh*...I was talking about money & spending money on frivolous items--not about someone's weight.  I would never judge someone on their weight.  Obviously, money is a touchy subject right now in these economic times, so I shouldn't have even brought it up.  Thanks for the feedback though.

And yes, I didn't get quite the reaction I expected, but that's okay--we all have our opinions.

I think the plant lady really has a thing for tarzan.  she is turning her home into a fake jungle and will require her paramour to swing semi-naked through the shrubbery.

It sounded like you were jealous, but then again, who isn't jealous of someone who can easily spend $12K on house plants??? Embarassed

Oh, of course I was jealous--I'd love to be able to spend that kind of money at a drop of a hat, but at least I'm not the one who will be faced with a $12,000 credit card at the end of the month. Tongue out

The whole scenario was funny though because she walked in with her interior designer to buy a vase for a table and 6 hours later she bought 80 to 90 accessories that totaled over $12,000.  She mentioned her husband wasn't letting her buy a new house due to the economy, so she wanted to spruce up the one they already own & that this was coming out of her "plastic surgery fund."  She was kidding about the plastic surgery fund, but not about the house.  It led me to the conclusion of the following:

a.  she has too much time & money on her hands

b.  she may have a serious shopping addiction

c.  she's trying to punish her husband since he doesn't want to buy a new house (especially since he doesn't know how much she spent on accessories yet)

d.  or what madamq said--the woman wants to turn her home into a fake jungle & swing semi-naked thru the shrubbery

Hope this clears the air & that people can see the funny/juicy side of the story.  And yes, it's her money, so she can spend it on whatever she wants!

 Haha!!!  I think it's funny!

I'm sorry so many people took your post so seriously.  I took it as a frustrated person who needed a rant.

Here's to the little people ever having enough money to spend thousands on fake plants.
