60 year old in Canada needs motivation

I also could use some help with this site and curious why it doesn't show me as a new member. Have mentioned this site to my daughter who has also joined but unable to find her here. I am 60 years old and started a diet about 6 to 7 weeks ago and have only lost five pounds which I find so discouraging. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I have thirty pounds to lose and do feel motivated but very discouraged. Along with other health issues have recently found out I am borderline diabetic so thats the reason I have been trying so hard on this diet as I do not want this new problem to become an issue. Any other members in the same boat that could help.

hello, there, i just replied to your journal entry, and then realized you hadn't gotten a response here, either.    you should not be discouraged by the 5 lbs in 6-7 weeks, that is a fine start!!  i think if you can add a little of some kind of exercise, that will help a lot!  my choice is the curves workout 3x a week, but just walking in the fresh air is good, and i try to do that on alternate days.

i also found it was very important to get 25% of my calories from protein and 25% from fats, so i did a lot of calculating to find the right foods for that.  there are lots of ideas in the "library" and on the forums for how to improve your ratios.    i would think especially if you are borderline diabetic it's important not to have too many carb calories!

please don't be discouraged, it does take time!

i don't know why you can't find your daughter's screen name.  maybe you could email one of the moderators to ask that.

HI Flea,  I am so ecxited  to see a person closer to my age.  By the way five pounds in that time period is really good and healthy.  I am going to keep an eye on this thread and maybe I can find some inspiration here.  I recently turned 64, but don't feel it.  My children have always told me that I don't act my age.Wink

You look as if you are young at heart too.  Welcome aboard, and have fun.
