How old were you when you chucked the teddy bear?
For those of you who used to sleep with a teddy bear, a blankie, a little action figure, a night light, whatever you needed to help you sleep, how old were you when the habit died? When did you finally let go of Mr. Bear?
I'm twenty, and I still sleep with my baby pillow. 'Cause apparently I'm not meant to sleep without it. I tried last night and was up all night, constantly reaching over to try and find it, realising it's not there, and huddling back in fetal position against the wall. No matter what I did, I just could not sleep and am hyped up on so much caffeine I look like a drug addict.
Fortunately my little pillow is washed (kitty had an accident on it) and sewn into a brand new cover so as soon as I stop shaking from caffeine overload I can take a nap. Yay! Until then, though, make me feel better and tell me you're older than me and still sleep with something. :(
Or buy me a bagel. I'll take either one. Plain, light cream cheese spread on thinly with a bit of pepper. Thanks.
Now I have a warm blanket that I have curled up with for the past 3 years. I will always need something to squish up and hold in bed.
BTW bagel is on the way what color peppers do want......
I slept with my little baby blanket and had milk from a baby bottle until I was 10. lol
My mom forced me to give up on it. She said "you must grow up!". It was so sad. Don't worry, I was the only one in the class who was still doing that kind of baby stuff. I guess I don't want to grow up o.o
Huh? You mean at 40 I'm not supposed to still have him on my bed?
Ok, so he's actually not on the bed, but on a chair. My teddy was also my mom's, so he's older than dirt.
My DD is almost 19 and still has her "blankie" on her bed. Holes and all - she washes it weekly and gets very mad if her friends tell her to toss it. NOTE: It was the first one we took to the hopistal when she was a premie and we put it in with her when they thought she was not going to make it. She calls it her lucky blankie and said she is NEVER taking it off her bed.
*hands over an onion bagle, toasted nicely and lightly spread*
On the other hand, my daughter who is 6 has a little lamb that I'm gonna have to pry outta her hands when it's falling apart lol.
Sucked my thumb until I was 7-8. Got braces and had to stop :( -siiiiighs-
I also had my silkie (it was a silk pillow case I rubbed on my face with the hand I wasn't sucking on haha), but that got worn away to nothing a long time ago. I wish I still had even a bit of it.... :(
I will send you a bagel via post office, it should be nice and hard by the time you get it. That way I won't mess up your diet.
otherwise he resides safely up on a high shelf away from the stuffed animal destroyer otherwise known as my dog murphy. i also have a quilt my great grandma made for me. it's a full sized quilt, and every single stitch was done by hand. i'd be devastated if anything happened to either one!
I was never attached to a blankie or teddy bear, and never had any kind of toy or thing I absolutely HAD to have to fall asleep. Maybe I was a strange kid.
I still have my mopsy doll blanket, but it was never a security thing - just a neat blanket that my godmother gave me when I was 6. And I did have a favorite doll to play with, baby bean bags, but I had to get over her when my brother ripped her head off and it couldn't be fixed.
And I too would be heartbroken if anything happens to it.
I still sleep with my stuffed dog, and I'm 42 :) My husband sleeps with a stuffed hedgehog so all is well. It's funny - we were both really embarrassed at first to admit that :)
I had "burp pads" that I could not live without when I was younger. They seriously went everywhere with me, and if I misplaced them I would go crazy until I found it. If I didn't have my burp pads at night, then I couldn't sleep. I would bunch up two or three burp pads on my pillow and rest my head on them to fall asleep. As I got older, I didn't need to carry the burp pads around with me, but I still needed them to sleep. Eventually, I realized that I probably needed to move away from my burp pads, but I had to have some coaxing from my mom. Although I don't use them anymore, I still keep them in my room in the drawer. I just can't get rid of them because they were a big thing to me. Also, even though I don't use the burp pads anymore, whenever I go to bed I have to take a blanket and bunch it up on my pillow in order to sleep. :)
I'm 16 and I have a cuddle toy cat called Hannah that I've slept with every night since I was 6 x] I don't think I'll ever get rid of her, it just wouldn't be right! She'll probably end up buried with me o_o
I used to sleep with like, a dozen teddies on my bed, but over the past few years they've gone into the cupboard into my room and now they're all in there except Hannah.
I probably can sleep without Hannah, but I'd never want to!
I'm 15 and sleep with Take(my panda), Hello Kitty, and/or my purry kitty. Purry Kitty was given to me by my grandma when I was a wee one. He has a little, um..purrer? Whenever you move him he purrs XD
*slips on banana peel upon exit*
I'm 27, and only had to retire my stuffed dog Beebo about 6 months ago (his head was falling off and I've been too lazy to sew it back on). I've switched to a neck roll type pillow for the time being. I may never give up the habit ;)
I had a baa-baa (weird little pink sheep) that I slept with until I was 6 or 7. My sister however had a 'blankie' that was resown so many times my mom bought a blots of the fabric in case it was discontinued. She slept with it until she went away to college at which point it was deemed too precious for the dorms and a dorm quilt was made by my mother with one square of the old blankie fabric. The original blankie now lives on my sisters old bed at my moms house, (she lives about 30 miles away). But once in a while if she's having a hard time (boyfriend/job/whatever) she'll take it back to her apartment with her for a few weeks and sleep with it. Nothing wrong with a comfort blankie!
