Hi, I'm 40 years old and I can no longer blame my fat on my 2 kids! I just eat way too much! I think that because I've been some size of overweight all my life and have always been active, I've never gotten it in my head that I really can lose weight and be the person I want to be. See, although I know my weight is not good for my health, I've been on enough diets and have read enough to probably be a certified nutritionist but it's gotten me no where. ( I think I'm journaling now..lol) I don't lose my breath walking up stairs or putting on my shoes.I'm active.. I want the quick and easy way out because it's all about being vein for me. I don't want my stomach rolling over my pants cut in half or looking like I'm pregnant, having that "apron"( I hope you know what I'm talking about) I want to look good. I know there is a strong body underneath all this fat. I know quick and easy isn't right. I'm just tired and I now want this site and you wonderful people that are on the same journey as me to help me get this right. I love this site, I really think it will help me lose the weight the right way. After all, it helped me to realize a pill is not going to do it for me, or atleast in the long run. I LOVE FOOD! I EAT TOO MUCH FOOD. HEEELP! <3
Hi Stacymgr & welcome to CC. I know exactly what you are talking about. I too am 40 and it was getting embarrassing when I would say that I was trying to loose my pregnancy weight when my kids are 7, 8 & 15. I have had 3 c-sections so I too have the "apron" and it is disgusting! I can't wait to be the skinny mom in stead of the fat mom at school. I have been on this site since July 8, 09. When did you join? How much are you wanting to loose and how are you doing it? Have you lost any since you joined CC?
Hi indy..sadly, I started back in May and I was 10 pounds LIGHTER! I just do not know.. yes, I know.. I ate too much and drank too much wine!!! I was this big about 9 years ago and when I got on the scale at 250 then I was like WHOA!! and I started Atkins and lost about 20 I think then went on to every other diet and program out there.. I'm sick of it!..I just decided today after reading some things here that I would stop taking these pills I got off the internet and just really watch how much I'm putting in my mouth. I also had gotten the foodlovers program, which, it is good, so I'll go by that. but I'm done buying anything else.. God bless my husband for putting up with me and all my fixes that only fix for a little while, while throwing "his"money away.( my job is running the house) Have you found success with this site? does it keep your mind focused? I know I could be the healthiest with about 80 pounds gone but where ever I feel the best mentally and physically will do too..my numbers aren't bad so that's a good thing but I do need to keep them in check, the triglicerides are up a little..
The food craving frequency is an important part of weight management.I have read on Project Weight Loss about a study offered new insights into the role of food cravings in weight control. ![]()
The study involved overweight and healthy-weight people, up to forty-two years old. They reported food cravings even after six months of dieting. The study showed that the key to successful weight loss is to keep cravings under control, not necessarily stop them.
Cravings are normal. Everybody craves. Many people feel uncomfortable because of their food cravings, but the most important thing is to pay attention to their frequency, commented Susan Roberts of the USDA 's Energy Metabolism Laboratory, corresponding author.
The types of food craved are essential to a successful weight loss program, researchers said. The results showed that the cravings are not for foods rich in carbohydrates, as it was assumed, but for high-calorie foods, said Roberts. The most common cravings are for chocolate, chips, French fries, or other salty snacks.
The main purpose of the study was to make others understand that they crave for high-calorie foods and they may substitute one type of food with another that tastes the same but has fewer calories, said Roberts.
