I am excited to be part of the group! I'm mainly looking for great dieting tips on how to lose about 10lbs. I don't mind excercising and I already eat very healthy foods. I just eat too many of them!!
I need tips/advice on what not to eat and what to eat! At my height (5'5") and my weight & age, I look in the mirror and actually do usually like what I see. It's the number (140!!) that scares me most though....I am 27 years old and about a year and half ago I was ony 130 pounds. I'm not sure what has changed in my eating habits or how I have gained this extra 10 pounds, but I would ideally like to get down to 125-130 pounds again.
Anyone else have a similar problem? I am 27 and looking to start a family soon, but am very nervous about starting a pregnacy already being beyond my ideal weight....any suggestions???
OMG! I am in exactly the same place. 27 year old female, 5' 5", 140lbs, and usually like what I see in the mirror but I hate the # on the scale. I used to eat really erraticly. Scimping during the day, saving my calories for the bar at night with friends. I was at 130-135lbs. But I realized the way I ate and the amount I drank was very unhealthy and unsustainable so I started to eat 5-6 mini meals a day and more protien and I changed the composition of my body. I am much firmer and toned but I am still 10 lbs heavier and I want to scream sometimes. I cut out drinking almost entirely and I'm kinda discouraged that it didn't make a bigger difference. I know muscle weighs more than fat, yada, yada.
I too am married and thinking about having kids this year but I'm so obsessed with getting back down to 130 the thought of gaining pregnancy weight deflates my desire for children.
Although I obviously can't give you any suggestions, since I'm in the same boat, starting this week I'm going to tighten up my diet. No sugars! I hate Halloween because I allow myself to justify candy. Good luck and hopefully someone will have some good advice for us!
You are 2 pounds skinnier than me but i am in teh same boat 5'5" and 142. I like what I see in picutures and in the mirrow, but I have some love handles and a little bit of a belly. It is easy to maintain this weight but need to turn it up a notch. Sometimes I feel that this is a good weight for my by looking at pictures but i HATE HATE HATE that number on the scale. How long have you gals been trying to lose?
hi just wanted to say step up your exercise and cut calories a bit try to burn 500 to 800 more than you consume. I have lost 29 pounds have 9 to go and I have not given up anything that I love just cut back I burn around 2200 calories a day so I try to stay at 1700 to 1800 usually though am less than that and do not lose as quickly if i burn a 1000 or more than I take in hope this helps and good luck to you. kathy in hawaii age 62 ps when done dr says 115 but think I will lose 14 more pounds and go to 110.
I've been actively trying since June. I took up running and I've been running 3 miles/ 5 days a week. I take aerobics 3-4 days a week and I lift weights and do the elliptical at home. I am pretty active. I eat between 1200-1500 calories a day. Is that too much or too little? I'm afraid to eat more for fear I will pack on the lbs.
i am 5'5" as well and weigh around 145. i hate it too - not that i look fat - but that in a year i have managed to go from 130 to 145. it is depressing. any tips that have worked for you would be great! i go to the gym 6 days a week and count my calories, but the numbers don't change. some days i feel like quitting. i will say however, that i am seeing a difference in the tone of my body and the way my clothes fit -- but i cannot seem to get past the numbers! =) in a selfish way, i am glad that i am not alone.
I noticed that majority of you have mentioned working out 5-6 times a week. When I use to work out that often I never saw results, that's why I work out 3-4 times a week, and I notice a huge difference. I'm 26, 5'6'' and now 122lbs, very trim and toned. You need to give your body a break, and also mix up the cardio you do. Run maybe twice a week, do the elliptical, stairs or a kickboxing class. Your body needs to be surprised, when it figures out your routine you'll hit a plateau a lot quicker than you want.
As far as food is concerned, lots and lots of water (cold water speeds up your metabolism as well). I have breakfast every morning, which is usually eggs or an instant weight control oatmeal. For lunch I usually have some type of lean Cusine with fruit on the side. I have a yogurt before I go to the gym, and dinner consists of a hearty portion of protein, usually chicken, sirloin or fish, veggies and a small portion of carbs. I have my pizza, cookies, drinks, etc. every now and then but it's more of a random reward and treat. The food log on this website is great to figure out how much protein and fats you're taking in, and great at counting your calories consumed versus burned.
Keep it up, and be happy!!!
right there w/ ya! I'm 27, 2 kids (4 and 16m) and weight in at 145lbs. I would do anything to loose 15lbs. i love using the calorie counter and try to keep it low and work out. I don't eat very well and eat to fast when i do.... :)
i'm trying the working out 3-4 days a week plan right now...
