How old were you when you had your first kiss?
I'm curious. Sorry if this is a repetitive topic- I'm sure someone else has posted this before, but I didn't find it.
So...how old were you? I'm 14...and I still havent had one. Also, how old were you when you first started dating? That may be the same question, in some cases, but I'm curious about that too :)
EDIT: I was kissed by my bf on my 15th birthday- it was perfect and amazingly awkward :) Thanks for everybody's answers!
Thanks peacelove, I definitely was referring to the sexual things. And also, antagonist, you do realize that different things at that extremely important age, especially sexual "firsts" and such are VERY different to boys than they are to girls, and can have a PROFOUND effect on the growth and development of a young girl's self/body image as well as self worth.
Again, I wasn't attacking anyone specifically, just an observation that I was wondering if anyone else had been sorta thinking about, as well.

This is true. Now that you've put it this way, I retract my former statements. Sorry! n_n
yup, gennysaurus, i agree with you. i have a friend who starte doing things at a young age &she did it cause she thought guys wouldnt like her otherwise.
I'm 16, never been kissed. It doesn't bother me too much, but I am awfully curious.
My most romantic experience was a very sweet slow-dance at prom.
I was 16, which was this year omg it was fun cuz it we saw a movie and then out to eat and then to the park ![]()
Think I was 14/15 when I had my first kiss. 16 when I had my first boyfriend.
That was before I gained weight though, but now I've nearly finished losing it and maybe I'll get back into that stuff, heh.
Haha.
Like a peck kiss? 8. There was a boy who tackled me to the ground and kissed me.
With tongue? Like 11-ish. It was a dare at a slumber party. The boy kissed like a snake, darting his tongue in and out of my mouth quickly, pfft.
I was 15 i was very drunk and of what i can remember it was ok, too much tongue though on both parts.
And drunk at 15??????????
Shouldn't a moderator close this thread? It is NOT helpful, informative, fun, etc... It seems to just be gratuitous idiocy.
I'm a happy single chick =P
i'm 16.
(well i guess it was technically yesterday since it's like 2 am. but yeah, 16)
edit: and ps- it was during a scavenger hunt. with a good friend of mine. not really serious so it wasn't a big deal. we don't like eachother like that. but yeah, that was my first kiss lol.
Does it really surprise you that so many teenagers lack even a bit of self control?
it's not about self control, it's about being taught what is right and what is wrong, and being given the tools to build self-respect and self-esteem. Not ALL young teens engage in that behavior. I would venture to say that MOST do not. There is too much pressure these days for younger and younger girls and boys to be "sexy", sexually active, and to be attractive, skinny, popular, famous, etc.
A young teen is not emotionally ready to be having sexual contact, partly because their action/consequence part of their brain isn't fully meyelinated... They literally have less ability to connect an action with a consequence, which is why they are thought to be more "daring" and often make not-so-smart decisions. Which is also why they should not be allowed to be in a situation where they may be tempted to get drunk or engage in sexual activity (ie alone at a friend's house, party with no parents... etc)
Our parents weren't just being mean when they asked all those questions about who we were with and where we were going and when we'd be back and who'd be there.. they were doing it because we needed those boundaries so that we could learn to place them on ourselves as we get older!
Most teens are simply going to make many many mistakes, no matter how they're raised... there are exceptions, of course. Asian cultures that associate shame and dishonor with people who are out of line work quite well to stop those things from happening, although that's not coming to America any time soon.
Not trying to turn this into some great debate or something, but you're not going to get anywhere if you're ignorant of human nature. Adults can be quite hedonistic and impulsive as well.
lol ignorant of human nature.
Ok, I am done bantering. How old are you, anyway? 14?
This thread is useless.
Genny - I agree with you on many parts. But I believe it's a mix of nurture and nature but in my opinion, mostly nurture. However, I don't think the way you were raised or "human nature" should ever be used as an excuse for bad behavior or the likes.
I don't find myself in the YCC section much because it's a bunch of threads like this. I find myself pretty mature and don't associate with teenagers - I hate stereotypical ones and such.
=/
I agree with shantzor; its a mix. Our genes are the foundation on which external factors -our family, friends and media- build upon. Both the traits passed on from our parents and how we were brought up play roles in how we act in situations.
Two kids brought up in the same home, that end up in the same situation might make the same choice but they also might make completely different choices!

The simple fact that I disagree with you does not mean I am or should be young. If it's so vital for you to have a bias when judging someone, I'll tell you that I'm 16.
However, you should know that it's quite kind of me in such a situation to not look down on you for being a college student. After all, college students probably show as little or less self control with alcohol and sex than high school students do.
Saying "lol" in front of a statement doesn't invalidate it. If you think that as a parent you can just tell a kid not to have sex or get drunk and he won't, you obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

why is kissing so wrong to you? i just dont understand...
perhaps i dont know ecause i've never kissed someone who wasnt a family memer, ut it doesnt seem ad. ut i agree with you on the other types of sex. BUT i like to keep in mind that even though i wouldnt have been ready at 15, 16 or heck, even now at almost 18, i know other people could have been. it just depends on the person.
