17 Years old, Male, 5 foot 9, 119 Pounds! Help me gain weight please!
Ok here is like a general day of me eatting
Breakfast - None, I am never hungry in the morning to the point where I can't even force myself to eat something
11a.m. - I eat a school lunch which usually is a spicy chicken sandwich with ranch on it, a milk, and hot cheetos
2:30 - I will make a little ham sandwich or eat a hot pocket
4-5:00 - Either a chicken quesadilla from taco bell or like a hot pocket and nachos or pizza rolls with milk usually
I workout every other day (weightlift and curl) and I see a little more muscle but I still don't gain weight
My adams apple is like jumping out of my skin and I am very small.. I really want to gain weight and I am losing all my motovation.
Then every night before I sleep ill mix a little bit of protein in my milk and drink that
Ive got the EXACT same stats as you- (im female though!) ... we have really high metabolisms and need to compensate for that.
You need to really eat something in the morning. If you cant eat something, drink something with lots of calories! (Milkshake with bananas/ice cream maybe?)
Make sure you get lots of protein in if youre weight lifting. Cheese is great, it also has alot of calories as with NUTS! Seriously go buy some nuts, they are incredibly high in calories and yummy! :-) Add healthy olive oil to your foods when cooking (if you cook?)
...ohh and try the crunchwrap supreme at Tacobell, its my fave!
Hope that helps a bit!
You don't have a high metabolism if you're skipping breakfast.
Simply put? You're not eating enough.
There is a sticky at the top of the forum you should read: The Aim is to Gain: Advice on Weight Gain, Whatever Your Reason
Like 'liveyourlife' I have very simmilar stats to you, as does my housemate ( I am female he is male) To be honest, it doesn't matter what I eat, I am always 8stone 3 - you might just have to accept that that is your natural body shape and lots of people will envy you for it.
Looking at your diet I would suggest you should eat more vegetables - just eating fats and sugars can make you malnourished, which would keep you very slim.
Are your parents a simmilar shape? Cos if so you're just meant to be skinny - embrace it! Clothes look much better on us than overweight people :)
P.S looking at your picture, I think you look pretty fine ;)
You daily diet doesn't looks like it could possibly contain much more than 1000-1200 calories. A single hot pocket (200-300 calories) is not enough for lunch, especially if you haven't eaten breakfast.
You will need to increase your daily caloric intake to at least 3000. That means you need to eat breakfast whether you are hungry or not. You are also at high risk for malnutrition if these are the only types of foods you are eating. I see no fruits, vegetables or unrefined carbs in sight.
The only thing in your current diet you should keep is the milk. Switch to whole milk for the added fat. Cut out the hot pockets, cheetos, taco bell and other highly processed foods. These foods could be affecting your appetite and making it even more difficult for you to eat in the mornings.
You should also be eating about 5 or 6 times a day. Here's a good schedule to follow.

You should definitely start eating something later than 5:00. You are essentially fasting from 5:00 in the afternoon until 11:00 the next morning. That's 18 hours without a meal. A snack or small meal around 8:00 pm would be a good idea.
I also can't overemphasize the importance of breakfast. You don't have to start eating a three course meal every morning. Just drink a glass of juice or have a little bit of fruit. It should be something sugary to get your appetite going for the rest of the day.
Besides the obvious eating more, you really should get checked out by a doctor. A lot of the symptoms you mentioned are synonymous with a thyroid problem or graves disease (the two are confused alot). The one thing that confuses me is... hyperthyroidism causes weight loss and decreased appetite, hypothyroidism causes an enlarged goiter (thyroid) (often mistaken for the Adam's apple). You'll need blood tests, but it is very necessary that you go to a doctor because you might have a serious medical condition.
By the way, thyroid disease IS treatable (not curable, but treatable) with medicine. Good luck and feel better!
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
