25 year old male seeking support!!
Hey There Everyone,
My name is Steve, and of course I am obese ( ok that sounded like an A.A. announcement) but that's why I am here. I need the friends and support and tips... I am 25 years old and have been struggling with my weight all of my life. I first joined the group "TOPS" (taking off pounds sensibly) when I was 13 years old, and have yo yo'd for the past 13 years or so. Am I not strong enough to do this by myself? I don't know, I like to think that I am. I know there are others out there male and female that are in my same shoes and if we can support each other than great! I will make this short, and hope to hear from someone soon!
Thanks,
Steve
Hey Steve!! My name is Becky and I am Obese too!! (My AA announcement!!)...LOL I have been heavy my whole life and I am now 34 and I was heavy even as a kid. I can remember being in Weight Watchers when I was in 6th grade. I am a food addict and a big time emotional eater. I have even went to the extreme of having Lap Band surgery this past February and to find out that I have to still diet and exercise as if I didn't have it. It helps though because I can use it for a tool to keep the portions under control. I know that I cannot do this by myself and I need as much support as I can get and there is no shame in that. Just when you think you are by yourself you find out there is people just like you going thru the same stuff. Keep in touch and we will help each other.![]()
Hey there!!
Dont feel so bad i am in the same situation. I went into weigh watchers in 7th grade it worked until i went to Chicago, Cali with my grandfather to visit family and let me tell ya they liked to eat. I have been battling weight for ever.
You are right if we all stick together for support it can work..
Good luck
Jenn
Hi Steve
I lost over 130 pounds now and have kept it off for over a year. The big factors for me have been portion control and regular exercise(start out small. The important thing is establishing the habit) . I joined Bally's and have made a lot of new friends. After you have been there for awhile, the regulars start helping you. They like to see you stay for awhile as they are used to seeing people come in once, burn themselves out, then never come again.
I am 57 years old and am amazed that I could do this at my age. Very happy and feeling great. Best of luck to you. You really can do this.
Brian
Hi Becky,
I'm just seeing how you have been doing, if you don't remember you replied on one of my topics about needing a buddy and introducing my AA announcement lol... I have been rocky lately, but today was finally a great day, I had 2 minor/major surgeries in the past 18 months that have really set me back and kept me from being able to exercise... Last night I finally put on my mp3 player on my arm band and went for a 1 mile brisk half uphill/half downhill walk... I came back drenched in sweat!!! So I knew that was pretty good... I ate great today and shopped with my sister and nieces for 1 1/2 hours worth of standing/walking so I am taking the day off of the mp3 player walking... How have you been?
Steve
Brian,
Glad to hear from you. I have been battling but in the past couple days I think I kicked it into gear. I had 2 minor/major surgeries in the past 18 months that have set me back from being able to do the walking... But last night for the first time in the past 1 1/2 years I walked a mile and boy did I come back soaked in sweat! It felt really good... Today I grocery shopped with my sister and nieces for 1 1/2 hours so I don't feel/have the energy to walk tonight... Do you mind sharing 1 or 2 days worth of your breakfast lunch and dinners to give me ideas with food?
Thanks
Steve
