How old are you and your significant other?

Quote  |  Reply

Just asking for fun cause I'll be 18 in a little over 2 weeks and my boyfriend of a year and a half turned 25 in March.  Personally I see no problem with big age differences as long as you're on the same mentality or maturity level.  (Granted it would've been weird if he dated me when i was 14 and he was 21 haha)

:]

I'm 23, he's 22.

Sounds like you're trying to reassure yourself that your age differences are okay...
Or are you trying to prove to us that it's okay you're dating him?

He's 26; I'm 17.  We've been together for just about a year and have known eachother for over two.

Neither.  Lol it was just for fun.  Just to see if there were other people that dated outside the "normal" age difference.  I don't need to reassure myself.  I know we're perfect for each other.  And I don't need to prove anything to anyone.  :]

I'm 27, he's 28

I'll be 28 at the end of the month. My husband will be 44 at the beginning of the month. We have been together since early '99.

Last guy I dated was 39, and I'm 28.  I didn't end it because of the age difference.  :)
I'm 33, he's 39...  :)

not a huge difference comparatively - but we do like to compare the fact that when I was graduating grammar school he was completing his 2nd year of college... weirdness! :)

I'll be 39 at the end of this month and he recently turned 32.

Momto2-and coincidentally, we've been together since '99.

I'm 30, he's 31.

I'm 24, he's 28.

I know it seems fine to you now, but when you turn 25 see if you still think it's ok for people you're age to be dating 16 and 17 year olds.

I am 24 and my wonderful fiance is 34.  We've been together for 3 years in August.
We are both 27 ~ 3 months apart :)

Nope I don't think so.  Depends on the nature of the relationship and the individuals themselves.  Since our relationship was purely casual until I was 6 months away from my 18th birthday, I see nothing wrong with it.  (17 is the legal age of consent where I live by the way)  So considering we were mature about it and we clicked on an emotional level (rather than some 25 year old perv with an infatuation for young girls) I have a different understanding for people who date with a larger age gap.

I don't doubt that you don't see anything wrong with it, I'm saying that when you're 25 and are looking back on it your view will most likely be very different.

I'm twenty and my husband is twenty-two.  Not horribly far off from eachother.

I don't know.  Cause I feel like I'll look back and remember how much **** he and I got from such a judgmental society and I'll be more understanding.  I guess we'll just have to see in 7 years how I feel.  lol :]

CD, you're only 20?  I thought you were at least a few years older than that... you're doing great for 20.  Already a phlebotomist and stuff.  'Grats.  :)

Floggingsully, I know what you mean.  When I was 17 I dated a guy who was 23.  I didn't think it was a big deal.  But now that I am 24, I think about the guys I know that are my age dating a 17 year old, and I think, "there must be a reason he can't get girls his own age".  Especially since my youngest sister is now 17 and I can't even begin to think about her dating a 23-year old! :)

(Lymabean, I'm not trying to judge your situation--I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions to my personal experiences with this!)

Back to the OP, I'm 24 and my husband is turning 26 next month.
