Are there any older people here?
Me! I am an older one! 49yrs and 220ish. Empty house except for the five dogs and one hubby...well not very empty...I too worry about my health. Diabetes and high blood pressure...my knees going out...I want to live a healty life too. So I am pretty motivated...hopefully this time will be the charm.
good luck carola! I know you have it in you to do this.

I see I am in good company. I was worried when I read mostly post by the 20-30'ish crowd. I used to be very active myself, taught scuba diving for years and still enjoy it on a recreational basis. But after my divorce ten years ago and quitting smoking, I put on the weight. Then arthritis in my right hip made any movement extremely painful. I no longer have any excuses not to live healthier. And here I am :)
The Senior's Corner
Hello and welcome!
The Senior Corner link above is a very well established thread where you might find a lot of support from fellow like-minded members.
Good luck and again, welcome!

There are a lot of us here! The 20 somethings tend to post more (how do they find the time?), but we're here in force, and are determined to get thin and healthy!
The Senior Corner thread has been running for a year now - stop by and say hello!
It takes courage and humility to acknowledge our failure and ask for help. Congrat. I am 65, working, and going strong, but over weight and needing the support of others who are struggling but facing the issue.
Had shoulder surgery in Dec, so some of the exercises I had been doing need to be amended, but walking and exercise ball are filling in. have had three good days, and look to continue.
I'm here, older and a guy. Seems to be mosylt women on here, not that that is a bad thing! LOL. I too noticed it was mostly 20's and teens on here who have much faster metabolisms than us older folks. We need the support and help too! I'm 6'0", 245 and want to hit my goal of 200 by summer if possible.
Keep me posted for support.
Hey, is 73 old enough ????? I got on the scale New Years day and it read 270lbs.
That did it, someone at the New Years Party told be about this site and here I am.
So good luck to both of us and count those calories. I think it works because I lost 5 lbs the first day, probably all water, or beer for sure.
Hi! 56 y/o ... I joined CC a year ago at 177.5 lbs. With the help of CC, I was down to 127 the week before Christmas but ....well I enjoyed myself up to 133.2 which is fine cause my original goal was 133.....
Now I'd like to get back down to 127 so I can have some "wiggle room" back! So long as I stay below 133 I'll be happy!
This is a fantastic site. So much info and so much support!
There are alot of different groups which offer all different kinds of support. If you don't find a group that tickles your funny bones, then start your own!
When ya think about it, it's kinda sad and illustrative of our society that there are so many young people with a weight problem!
Hopefully you all will find your nitch and take control of your life. It's wonderful to be healthy! Good luck to each and every one of you and I hope to see you in the forums!

Wonderful to hear from us older ladies! I've been on CC for a week now, just beginning to find our community.
Can you tell me more about using the exercise ball? I just got one, and the video doesn't help much. As huge (255, BMI40) and old (59) and arthritic (left hip) as I am, I guess I am afraid of injuring myself--and don't know how to use it.
Anything you can share? Thanks! and as you say, it's easy to fall off the wagon, and courageous to get back on...

Ah ha, I have found you guys! I am newer, been in CC for about 2 weeks. I was wondering if there were only 1 or 2 of us older folks. I am 48 and a I was a whopping 234 now I am bouncing between 205 and 211. I am a big bouncer. I want to be 170ish by end of summer. I have not done the exercise ball - I have been on one before and found you have to be a little co-ordinated to use it. I am trying to get motivated walking. Anyone out there that can move me..please feel free to try. I have been doing well with the food log using Monday - Friday, trying for the weekends too. I am glad to see men on the site. That is always encouraging. I am also a first time blogger. Is this blogging? Does anyone know?![]()
I'll be 57 in August. Need to lose 140 lbs to get to ideal weight. I am 298 now.
Me,I just joined last night. I am 60,y/o,but on May 31st,I will be 61.I know I don't need to lose as much as a lot of people on here, but I do need to lose about 27 lbs. I am only 4' 101/2" and it really shows. I want to lose weight,so I can feel better(I'm not used to being tired all the time, and having to catch my breath, when I do anything).I am trying to do better, started exercising, and watching what I eat,(never had to do that, until about 8 years ago).I weigh 125,but I wanna be back to 98lbs. I have been that size, ever since I was 16.
I will be sixty next year and for the first time in my life I have hit 200 lbs. That has certainly sent me into a tailspin. I, too, have been in great shape before. Too many worries and not enough concentration on what I need has sent me in the wrong direction. I can remember not too long ago being in a size 8 and doing step aerobics every day, plus running a mile or two. I was a participant in a spin class as well for a long time. It's more difficult to exercise now since being diagnosed with RA. I seem to ache all of the time, especially in my legs and hands. I love being active and this is making me miserable. I must get healthy again. I am too young at heart to look and act like an old granny.
Hurray for oldsters! I just joined this week and am still trying to find my way around this site. I'm female, 53 and a whopping 315 pounds. I'm married but no kids of my own so it's just me, my hubby and the german shepherd. I am remarkably healthy for my age/weight. Good genes. (Thanks Mom!) I used to be very active and a size 9 but my love of food got the best of me. I really have no good reason for being this fat other than I eat just about anything at anytime for any occaddion. Food has been my drug of choice. I eat when I'm happy, sad, stressed...you name it. I am an emotional eater. I am making the effort to write everything down that I eat and eating a balanced diet. The calorie counter really comes in handy. I'm hoping I can stick to my program this time because as healthy as I am I can tell my body is getting tired of hauling all this lard around. Good luck to all of you on this adventure!
I just joined CC - 60 in October and 30-50 pounds to lose. Demanding career in Washington, DC with added challenges of long hours, lots of entertaining and traveling. I hope that some online support will help us all stay focused on eating properly and paying attention to portion control today and every day. Thank you all for participating! MPD
