Older Young Calorie Counters.
I myself am 19 and while I am young I don't feel I really "fit in" with 13 year olds and such as I've pretty much already been through that.
Any thoughts?
In my experience, the 18-25 crowd (for the most part) is at a very different place in life from the younger teens, with corresponding weight issues: college weight gain, slowing metabolisms, alcohol consumption, etc. (I mean yes, I did drink when I was a teenager too, but it's definitely much more of a problem now). You'll never find me making any kind of blanket statement implying that all teenagers are silly and once you turn 18 you get Maturity magically bestowed upon you.. but a lot of the differences in lifestyle and resulting mindsets/weight issues are pretty significant. Kinda makes me wish we had our own forum, actually - I think the fact that this was half-hijacked into a mini flamewar is kind of a case in point.
...wow...this was such a great idea! personally my biggest struggle is to eat better on such a small budget...it's really getting hard to eat healthy when milk costs more than soda, lol...
to those who think this group is "ageist"...do you really believe that all adults are the same? the difference between a 13 year old and a 25 year old is a lot more dramatic than between a 30 year old and a 42 year old...and college is very different from high school. leaving home and still staying responsible, drinking as a regular social event, trying to eat right on a budget, finding time between a job and school to exercise, entering relationships that actually could end up as the "real one"...are these the kind of things that highschoolers deal with every day? how many high school students pay for their own rent? or are so far in debt after college they need to work two jobs to eat? or get married? that's just ridiculous. no matter how much people are mature or young for their age, time changes people. period.
