Woot! Woot!
It's as bad as I thought it was. Personally I avoid all Italian restaurants, it is just not worth it.
Tour of Italy1450 Cal. That is almost my daily calorie intake if I do not exercise.
IHOP is another one. Just as bad as olive garden.
I didn't think Olive Garden's stats were THAT bad as long as you choose wisely. Obviously the cream-slathered pastas and beef-and-cheese entrees are not going to be nutrition-friendly, but The grilled salmon and apricot chicken are not too bad, and several pasta options are decent calorie-wise at lunch time.
I'm actually going there for my birthday tonight. ^^

Thanks! I haven't been to Olive Garden in AGES! I'm going to make mostly smart choices, but I MIGHT just have a breadstick too, or maybe a kid's sundae for dessert (although I'm usually quite full there without one!).
A dessert for only 180 calories is pretty amazing compared to some of the 1,200+ options you'd find other places. Plus, I'm only 14, so I doubt they'd mind it if I wanted to order something off the kid's menu. ^^
I just want to point out that DUH the tour of italy is almost 1500 calories. It has lasagna, spaghetti, AND chicken parm (which is basically deep fried breaded chicken with melted cheese on top).
They have minestrone soup which is low cal, you can get "garden fresh" breadsticks without the salt/butter on them, and you can get whole wheat linguine with any pasta dish. And their dishes are huge so just cut it all in half and don't eat it all!

My mom ordered the "low-fat" Cappelini Pormodoro which was actually like 800 calories for the dinner portion, but when they brought it out it was HUGE! We took like half of it home! I would have probobly gotten the shrimp primavera if I knew their portions were so large. That probobly explains the calorie counts for the unfried items.

BEWARE! most resturaunt plates are 2-3 servings, not one. One cup of cooked pasta alone has 220 calories, ish. Some places are nice enough to specify more than one serving per meal, but some aren't. Pei Wei dinners and lunches are all actually 2 servings per order, so I have to take that into account.
I agree with Zebulancherry...Nutrition facts are not BAD....It is when the Nutrition facts are in-correct, false or do not exist is when they are bad... Because I wrote to CheeseCake Factory telling them I would not dine at their resturant until they provide nutritional info. because I do not care if XYZ is 5000calories...because I know if it is 5000calories, I will only eat 1/10 of it. So I think the important part is the fact they provide the information not that all the items are calorie laden....The other part is you doing your best to determine how much of a serving you actually received. Can you tell me that you do not eat a pizza? Can you tell me that you do not eat any ice cream? I can tell you that i have lost 25lbs, and i have not stopped eating the things I like.. Just less.
So, hand of apploze for Olive Garden.
Everything in moderation. ^^
Except trans fats. I avoid them pretty much at all costs - I don't think that Olive Garden uses them however.

That they don't--I bookmarked an oldish post about trans fat-free chains, and Olive Garden is under the "Totally Trans Fat Free" list.=P
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
