Olympic Losers (sorry group closed for now)

Quote  |  Reply

Welcome everyone to the first week of our Olympics!

The first round will last until 22 December. (start of my x-mas break) The second round will start 4 Jan. 2010.

The rules are simple.

1. Contribute 3 times or more per week.

2. Be supportive of the group members.

3. Be honest about how you are doing and feeling.

I thought it would be fun to give a prize each week. If you are comfortable you can give me your real address and I will send the  weeks winner something small. If you don't want to give your address you can give me an email address and I will send you a virtual prize. I will not compete for prizes.

I will start a new thread each monday and post the link in the old thread. I suggest bookmarking or tagging the thread so it is easy to find.

So ready, set, go....

Week 1

Physical challenge: Get at least 4 hours of exercise this week.

Social: Introduce yourself to the group.

Emotional: What is the most difficult thing for you about losing weight and how do you deal with it.

This weeks prize will go to the best answer for the emotional question.

Hi, everybody. Actually, the M-I-L is coming tonight instead...so we'll see what happens with my exercise. Maybe I can squeeze it in before she gets here, but since she's coming from out of town (from 20 hours away, in fact), I have no idea what time she'll be arriving yet.

So last night I did 30 minutes, but actually I didn't feel guilty at all because usually on days when I do conditioning exercises I don't do more than 30 minutes. I did 10 minutes of abs, 10 minutes of leg lifting exercises (not just pure leg lifts of course) and 10 minutes of stability ball. Again, I did this workout using my Tamilee Tight on Time DVD. My butt was sore from doing the step workout a few days ago, so the leg lifting portion was *ouch* but a good ouch, if you know what I mean?

How did I motivate myself to push to do 40 minutes on cardio day? Because I 1) did a thirty-minute workout and then did something else for 10 minutes. It was still exercise, but different exercise, and 2) because I had promised to this group that I would do it. In fact, that's what motivated me last night to get off my tush and do my three ten-minute toning workouts, because I was very tired after a long day at work. Some days, I am not that busy, but yesterday was very jam-packed and I was on my feet quite a bit.

Thanks to Just_Me_Here2009 for the "Go YOU!" Sometimes, I feel like nobody is impressed with 27 lbs lost, since I was never in the obese category. But I think I'm going to post some before and after pics so I can feel even better about what I've been able to accomplish. I was wearing a 14, and now I'm wearing an 8...and it's an AWESOME feeling.

Keegansmith, I am American but I live in Mexico. Nuevo Laredo, to be exact. Not exactly a tourist-pleasure spot. In fact, most of the Laredoans that I talk to on the U.S. side of the border are scared to cross over, even just to have dinner with me. That's because there were some terrific drug wars that went on a few years back (before I came), and it frightened all the tourists away. The narcotraficantes are still in Nuevo Laredo, but most of the violence has moved west to Ciudad Juarez/El Paso area. Nuevo Laredo has tried its best to have some American restaurants and stores, but it's not the same. There's McDonald's, Burger King, Church's Chicken, and even Applebee's...but we never eat there because it's actually much more expensive than the local restaurants. Funny that McD's costs more than the Mexican hamburger stand on the corner.

I have no issues with talking about living in Mexico. I'm naturally blonde and blue-eyed, so I get questioned about it pretty frequently down here. And stared at, wolf-whistled, ogled, you name it. Tongue out Especially now that I have all this confidence after having slimmed down so much! Just wait until I've lost those last few stubborn pounds...LOOK OUT!

Wow Keegan you are serious about losing weight if you left your job to do it. Aren't you wrorried you won't find another one? I do think it is great that you are so motivated. As for your other question, I have been to most of the european countries, Tunisia, Turkey, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, US (mostly west and east coast ,Hawai and Alaska), Canada, Dominican Republic and Aruba. High on my list of places I want to go are Russia, New Zealand, China and Thailand. What about you? Besides Germany where have you been?

Goodmorning everyone. It is back to work for me today after having 2 days off. I like my job so I don't mind except it is harder to find the time and have the energy to work out when I am working. I hope to get my work out in when the babies are taking their afternoon nap otherwise I'll do it tonight. My back is a bit sore today and I am not sure if it is from the rowingmachine or TOTM. I'll quess time will tell. I am planning to use the rowing machine today so I'll see if it gets worse.

Crazy You should be super proud of yourself for losing 27 pounds. I know it took a lot of hard work and determination but it paid off. Enjoy being healthy and feeling great!

Crazy     Sounds like Nuevo Laredo is an adventure.. Oh Great job on 27 lbs weight loss, but I must admit I have no idea what a size 14 compared to size 8 means. I figure 8 smaller than 14 so good job.    I am just a guy don't know much.   Haha

Marlies   Not worried about anything except droping some more weight.

I have been to Germany and Austria and both places are beautiful. I must admit I do envy you; all the places you have been to sounds great.

Having a bit of a hard day, I just feel like eating chocolate or something fried. Luckily I have nothing bad in the house. Just fruit and vegetables. Had oatmeal for lunch hoping it would fill me up but no luck...

Marlies, sounds like some good 'ol emotional eating happening there! Don't give in, girl, or you'll be sorry afterward!

Well, the M-I-L didn't come after all. She's coming over this morning while I'm at work to visit with her grandchild, so it seems that I will completely miss her. I managed to not only get in my 30 minutes of cardio, but also did some dancing afterward with my hubby (we were goofing off), and during my lunch since I thought M-I-L was coming, I walked around downtown for 30 minutes.

Yes, Nuevo Laredo is definitely an adventure. In more ways than one!

Morning! Just dropped 2 kids off at school. My 5 year old only goes 3 days a week so she is here with me. For exercise yesterday I spent 4 hours moving everything in my living room. Not sure I like it, might have to move it all again today. Have been doing well eating just need to find time to exercise!

I live in British Columbia(furthest province west). Canada's only dessert. Brrr  can't tell that right now. About 20 minutes for the Canada/US border. I love it here. I haven't been very far travelling in Canada(Alberta and Saskatchewan) and in the US through Washington, down the Oregon coast and just the very tip of California. Many places I want to go but it will have to wait till my kids are older.

Marlies, I hope your day gets better.

Sounds like you and hubby have fun crazy!

Today is going much better than yesterday. I did stick to my calorie allowance yesterday but it was hard. This morning I went to an English paygroup and there were lots of cakes and cookies but I didn't have anything. I had a delicious mango when I came home and oatmeal for lunch. I am making  a big pot of sweet potato and pumpkin soup so I can fill up my freezer and it is starting to smell really good. I love the smell of cooking.

Crazy How was your weigh-in this morning?

Immom I think moving furniture counts as exercise. Have you decided if you like it?

What is a English paygroup?

Sorry Keegan was suppose to say playgroup. How are you doing today?

Hello Marlies

I am doing great. How are you? Sweet potato/pumpkin soup sounds good. For some reason the smell of sweet potato and pumpkins put me in the christmas spirit. I am a little odd that way I suppose.

Sorry, did not mean to be rude. How is everyone doing today?

Good morning, all. My weigh-in was very frustrating, since I'm still stuck on a plateau. I weighed in at 142. Sometimes I feel like I'll be there forever! I think I may eat maintenance for as long as two weeks and then drop down to 1500 to see if that shakes things up a bit. Also I'll keep trying to add 10 minutes onto my exercise program.

I can report that last night, I felt very sleepy and I didn't want to exercise, but then I remembered I'd be reporting to this group in the morning and got up off my behind and did a 30-min belly, butt and thighs boot camp video. I pushed myself to finish the whole 30 minutes (I was really tempted to quit in the middle), and I was completely spent and didn't have any juice left for another 10. But I was proud of myself afterward!

Also, yesterday I ate a banquet lunch for an event, and went pretty high on the calories, but it's the first time I've done that in quite a while, so I'm not too worried about consequences. I didn't go nuts or anything; I just ate everything because it was relatively healthy, high-quality food, and it was free. There was a little bit of steak with a mushroom sauce, a little bit of chicken with a thin piece of ham wrapped around it, some cheesy potatoes, some steamed veggies, and salad with tomatoes and feta cheese. It was hard to estimate the calories, but I decided to input 1,000 because I also had a piece of cake afterward.

Tomorrow morning we leave at 4:30 am to go to our convention, so I don't know if I'll be able to exercise tonight between packing and trying to get to bed early. We only have conventions a few times per year, so I'm not stressing over missing a few days of exercise. On Monday I'll get right back into it, I'm sure.

Saturday night and I just finished having dinner with my employers. I cooked 2 different kinds of Indian chicken with rice, naan and cauliflower. It all turned out rather good. I only had a little bit of chicken, 1 naan and lots of cauliflower. I have been running around all day and I am really tired. I did manage to exercise 1 and 35 min. because I knew dinner would be lots of calories. I hope everyone else is having a nice  healthy weekend!

Okay, so I just sent you my PO Box address in your inbox. Now, don't come to Germany and steal my mail. But if you do, steal the bills and you have my permission to pay them (LOL)

Well today, my honey and I had the day off and we just chilled around the house. That is so rare for us these days. We made homemade orange and banana pancakes and had them without syrup. We had salad, turkey pitas and some triscuits too! All in all, we did really good.

Its my weight in day on monday wish me luck.
