Olympic Peninsula

Hi to everyone! I live on the Olympic Peninsula and frequently travel to the Seattle area, if anyone is interested we have some fun places to visit and eat at in our corner of the Northwest. Below are some suggestions:

1. Olympic Game Farm (live buffalo's etc.. that come right up to your vehicle East of Port Angeles) Great places to eat in Port Angeles are: Breakfast, First Street Haven, Plunkin Shack Cafe (breakfast & Lunch), Bushwhacker (Dinner), Sabai Thai (lunch & Dinner, great Thai food), There is also a really good outdoor Rib BBQ place on the East end of Port Angeles, right by Mt. Pleasant Rd. and Hwy 101 as you come into town. Take the Coho to Victoria B.C. ?

2. Granny's Cafe a great stop for Ice Cream or a home cooked meal while on your way to Lake Sutherland and Lake Crescent. Don't forget to go out back to check out the animals, wishing well and in the summer they do concerts in the covered area out back.

3. Lake Crescent Lodge, beautifully scenic and while there you can hike up to the falls. They also have a restaurant and bar.

4. Traveling further West you will run into the Hoh Rain Forest, the Ocean Beaches such as Kalaloch which has a lodge and restaurant that overlooks the ocean. You also can take a detour and travel towards the Indian Reservations for Makah Days (during the summer).

5. You can continue West on Hwy 101 and go to Ocean Shores, which is a kick during really stormy nights or during certain times of the summer when they have kite flying, Dune buggy riding etc...

6. At this point in your venture you can circle back around ending up in I think Shelton and then back to the Seattle area or you can continue on down the Coast to Oregon, Seaside is always fun!

We Call it "Doing the Loop" there are actually 2 loops, this is the "Big Loop" the little loop  is traveling from Port Angeles West to HWY 112 to Salt Creek recreation area continuing on the loop (along the water, taking a right out of the Salt Creek Recreation area) to Joyce, WA (which actually has a summer celebration called "Joyce Daze") even though hardly anyone lives there! When you reach Joyce you cut across Hwy 112 to Piedmont road that takes you up and around the North Side of Lake Crescent (you can stop off at Log Cabin Resort if you want) continuing past this resort you will be on South Shore Rd. and when you come off of this road you will be back at Hwy. 101 where you can either go left (West) back to Port Angeles area or take a right (East) and do the "Big Loop" taking the long way back to Seattle through Shelton, WA.

HAPPY VENTURES!

CARI

Hi!

I just moved from Southern CA to the Sequim/Port Angeles area.  I would love to hear more about what there is to do out here.  I have 2 small children (2 yrs. and 6 mos.) and am looking for activities to take them to do as well.  My husband and I love water sports (boating, surfing, wake boarding), hiking/walking with the kids, riding bikes, and anything fun we can do while still bringing the kids along because we don't have any babysitters yet!

I love love LOVE the Forks/La Push area of the Peninsula! (no, I'm not a Twilight fan, I've just been going there every year with my family since I was a baby :p haha) I'm really looking forward to getting out there again this summer, Second Beach has been calling to me.
