OMG! NO AB WORKOUT for awhile!!

I JUST FOUND OUT YESTERDAY WHAT I SUSPECTED:  I HAVE AN UMBILICAL HERNIA,  AND MY DOCTOR SAID NO CRUNCHES UNTILL AFTER IT'S REPAIRED WHICH WON'T HAPPEN TILL AUGUST DURING A TUMMY TUCK. ANYONE HAVE A UMBILICAL HERNIA??

I had an incisional hernia from multiple surgeries. I got it repaired, and followed my doctor's exercise restrictions to the letter (I did NOT want another hernia).

I'm fully recovered and my abs are great. BTW next time, take the caps lock off please.

I was referring to excercise now, before the repair.  Once a umbilical hernia is repaired they do not recur, from what my doctor said.  I am not worried about recovery, as I am sure it's a breeze compared to a csection.  The caps lock was on, because I was feeding my newborn as well as holding a toddler, so I had to type one handed.  That's what I have to do to multi task.

Heheh cool re the caps lock, it was very distracting. And yes I know you have a great chance of 100% recovery--but I was serious about following any restrictions your doctor gives you post-op.

I did not follow those restrictions which contributed to my incisional hernia in my lower left quadrant (having six major abdominal surgeries did not help either).

What does your doctor say about walking? Swimming? Things like that which don't directly stress your abs?

Oh yea, I can do the walking, swimming stuff etc.  my abs is where I like to target the most, ya know, just had baby like them flat, which they are, but the tt is the only way to get rid of lose skin thats just hanging there.  I am now 8 lb.s from my weight where I want to be, just anxious to get there again.

Not to sound completely clueless...but what is a umbilical hernia?
