OMG All I Want To Do Is Binge Eat!

Quote  |  Reply

So, I've been doing fabulous on my diet and all but all I wanna do today is binge eat! I couldn't tell you why. I don't know. I'm not hungry, or sad or anything like that I just have a strong compulsion to shove large quantities of food directly into my face.

It's really very annoying. Suggestions to distract myself from the urge while chained to a reception desk?

Please remember the advice you were given here: http://caloriecount.about.com/self-sabotage-f t125217

If you're still not eating enough, this would be why.

Also, it could be because you're bored at work.

It could also be that you know today is a holiday and most people are indulging in sweets such as chocolate and candies as well as eating at restaurants so you're in the envious state and feel like you should be able to do it too, but you're *dieting* and feeling discouraged. After all, most of us are tempted most by the stuff we can't have. :P

If you are @ home, STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN!! Call a friend, go to the gym, paint your nails. Do something that does not involve food. I know that is hard. I've been there, done that. But I still try to eat the healthy stuff, if I am wanting to eat around the clock. Then I have to hit it hard @ the gym. This too shall pass.....it always does. Good Luck.

The "paint your nails" works really well  Laughing  Another sugestion would be to do something to your feet so you can't move for at leat 15 minutes - try something like a "foot mask" where you massage in some good moisturizer and cover both of your feet together with Saran wrap and a towel (it will prevent you from walking to your fridge for a while, unless you were a sack-race champ).

At the desk: perhaps a bowl of popcorn with nothing on it?  It's rather filling without much "damage" - pretty good for those "this is a stickup, gimme all your food!" days.

wELL I AHD EXACTLY THE SAME FEELING YESTERDAY AND UNFORTUNATELY I GAVE INTO IT!!!!! I now feel yuk for doing so. Did you manage to stop yourself completely? if so how did you do it?

The best way that I have found to stop the urge to binge is to read. Not only is it good for maintaining your body, but it is great for your mind.

hehehheh thats so funny

I get this quite often and tend to find mine is hormonal.

I have a fool proof thing that works for me 100% of the time.  I find something that I don't really like the taste of (brocolli) and then I have it near me at these times and when I get the munchies I eat a tiny bit of the food I don't like and the taste of it puts me off wanting food completely.

Some foods like brussels sprout put me off completely.

Lisajb74 - that's a good one.  I seem to feel the same way.  I love veggies, but broccoli....yuckarama unless it's in a nice Chinese Stir-fry.  I think I also feel that if you've eaten something you're not crazy about, it helps to make you feel less like eating altogether.

If you want to get put off your cookies right this minute, read the following:

Casu marzu (or in Italian formaggio marcio) is a cheese found in Italy notable for being riddled with live insect larvae.  Casu marzu means "rotten cheese" in  Sardinian and is known colloquially as maggot cheese. Derived from Pecorino Sardo, casu marzu goes beyond typical fermentation to a stage most would consider decomposition, brought about by the digestive action of the larvae of the cheese fly Piophila casei. These larvae are deliberately introduced to the cheese, promoting an advanced level of fermentation and breaking down of the cheese's fats. The texture of the cheese becomes very soft, with some liquid (called lagrima, from the Sardinian for "tears") seeping out. The larvae themselves appear as translucent white worms, about 8 mm (1/3 inch) long. When disturbed, the larvae can jump for distances up to 15 cm (6 inches), prompting recommendations of eye protection for those eating the cheese. Some people clear the larvae from the cheese before consuming; others do not.

I feel nauseous already....

OMG haha after reading the person's response above mine, I'm suddenly not hungry anymore!

EW /=

But I know how you feel .. I have those days .. I'm not hungry but I just want my mouth full of food -- have you tried eating ice? It gives you that "Hey I'm eating my mouth is moving I can shove as much as I want into my face" without all the calories and regret later lol
