I am just starting out with this diet today and I put my info in and I will not reach my goal until March of 2010. That makes me sad!! I am 5 1' and weigh 132. I want to weigh 115 so that I can wear my clothes. I am going to do this thing!! I do have a couple of issues to overcome. First I hate water... yes hate!! Second I am a junk food junkie... I work full time, go to school part-time and have 4 children and 2 grandbabies. Sometimes its just easier to grab junk and go to bed.

Listen...All that soda youre probably drinking is just gonna give u a butt load of cellulite in the future!Water hydrates you 982309183 times more than any soda. I hate soda.. It took me a while to get used to drinking water cuz all I drank was kool-aid all the time when I was younger. But now I'm addicted to water. Think of it this way...Would you rather have 200calories of orange soda or 200 calories of a brownie after your salad you had for lunch? c:

Ask yourself why junk food is easier? I think eating an apple is pretty easy. You can purchase already peeled carrots. I think what you mean is it's easy to stay in the same rutt your in. It's easy to eat junk food but how does it make you feel when you are done eating it? I suggest keeping a food journal For one week, don't change one eating habit, but be honest..and write down EVERYTHING you eat and drink. At the end of the week..that journal may just be the motivation you need to stop eating junk and start eating nutritious food! You'll be amazed at the energy you will have, how your complexion will improve and...obviously, how the weight will drop!

Um, thats a long time just to lose 17 pounds. I think you can reach your goals in 3 and a half months if you fall in love with water and out of love with junk food.
I think people are being rough on you. Part of what I love about eating is that full feeling and you don't get it with an apple. You get it with a hamburger!
BUT once you start faithfully counting your calories you'll see how much a quick fast food bite will set you back. And if you can't cut it out, how about just once a week? Friday night splurge on some junk food.
And the soda thing has to go. I am a big fan of unsweetened ice tea. There are a LOT of flavors if you make it yourself AND you still get that caffeine.
Believe it or not, your cravings will start to change. If I don't get enough veggies, I feel it by the end of the night. Just listen to your body.
You are going to do great!
I can give you one good piece of advice, It will get easier. Once you start eating healthy after a few weeks your tastbuds will start to reprogram and things that looked and tasted gross to you before will be what your craving. Stick with it (by "it" i mean eating whole healthy foods and raw fruits and veggies) for a few weeks. You'll start to notice weight loss, which is an amazing confidence/self-esteem booster, and you'll start to think "why in the world was I eating that stuff"

When i first started on here it said my goal would be reached in like febuary of 2010
My original goal was 175 here i am at 174 so i made it 7 months early LOL
i know march of 2010 sounds soooo far away but don't despair. if you take you time and lose weight the right way (i.e. changing your diet for good instead of going on a diet for a little while) you're more likely to keep it off. when i first started trying to loose weight i shot myself in the foot by being in too much of a hurry. i ended up setting myself back farther than i would have been had i just done it the slow & easy way from the start.
it sounds like you've got a lot going on but i recommend setting aside an hour on sunday afternoon just for yourself & getting your snacks prepped for the week. use your food scale to divvy out your snacks in ready-to-eat proportions. right now i could grab-and-go a single serving of trail mix, nuts, crackers, granola, cottage cheese & fruit or veggies & dip. it makes it so much easier to avoid junk food when the good stuff's ready to go.
