HI!
Type your stats into the site calculator, and then you'll see how many cals you should eat per day to loose approx 1-2 lbs a week. Since there are like 4 weeks until august 20th, you could safely loose around 4-8 lbs.

I can't believe they're actually letting you into high school with such atrocious spelling and grammar.
dm84- she's just entering highschool... thats just the way that they type... i know a lot of people in their 20's who type like that too... it's simply quicker for them. this is a forum... not a formal paper she's writing... give her a break!
A few typos here and there is one thing, but that's just one huge string of gibberish, not English.
Hi ihatemybody :) I see that you are fairly new to the calorie-count community. Welcome!
Calorie-count is all about healthy and sustainable weight management, and we want to have a community where people feel welcome to post and to talk about the issues involved with eating and exercising appropriately ~ to share strategies, encouragement and support ~ within the philosophy of this website and the posting guidelines.
So, although you may be curious about starving yourself and throwing up your food, I need to advise you that it is against posting guidelines to ask for advice on diets or behaviors that are medically unhealthy (pro-starvation or pro-ana).
I'm assuming that you just weren't aware, and that instead your would like to discuss effective ways to lose weight ~ that will nourish your body and keep you healthy :)
Also, I notice that you are a teenager. Did you know that the calculators here use the adult guidelines? The international standards for teenagers (age 19 and younger) are different because you are still growing. And especially if you are active as an athlete. It's important that you don't go underweight (anything below a bmi of 18.5 as you mature and reach adulthood).
Anyway, here is a calculator with lots of information including calorie information for teenagers. We suggest you read this information carefully and share it with your parents who can help you set up an appropriate meal plan for you, your circumstances and your age and weight:

Nutrition, Exercise & Weight Management for TeensHere's a place with information on nutrition and health issues for Teenagers.
Nutrition & Health for TeensAside from the fact that you are a growing teenager and need extra nutrition to support growth, this article explains starvation mode and why undereating is counter productive.

The Body NeglectedAnd here is where you, and your parents, can find information about dealing with eating disorders should you have any concerns or questions about this kind of stuff, because frankly, throwing up is usually considered a form of purging which is part of the behavior problems suffered by people with anorexia, bulemia and certain other eating disorders. I'm not saying that we think you have an eating disorder. But experimenting with throwing up (purging) puts you at serious risk. It is not medically healthy, and the consequences to your body would be very serious and ultimately can lead to death. So, perhaps you could let your parent(s) or a counselor know if you are already involved or seriously considering doing this.... Anyway, here's a good link with lots of information about eating disorders...

Hi 'Ihate',
I hope one day soon you'll be able to say that you love your body. You've had some good advice from melt and from sheila - I hope that you'll read their posts through. Just ignore the comments about your grammar. That's not what this site is really about (although for those of us that are not in our teens, it can be hard to understand your short forms sometimes!).
I really hope that you never, ever, ever learn how to starve and purge. These are really really dangerous practices that can lead to long term health problems. People that do those things enough end up with permanent health problems. What you really want to be able to do is eat healthy and have a healthy lifestyle. I hope your Mom or Dad is willing to help you with that. Exercise (even just walking) can go a long way to improving your body shape. Good luck, and do post again to let us know how you are doing.

You weigh 149. How tall are you?
Sweetheart, it's good to want to be healthy and fit, but it is unhealthy to hate your body. It wasn't so very long ago that I was in your shoes, and I now regret every minute I wasted on hating myself. There are enough trials in this world to bring you down-- you don't have to bring yourself even lower.
Let me tell you a little secret I learned once I got to college. There is one beauty secret that works on every woman, always effective, always affordable; one simple little trick that every woman can use to look more attractive and attract others to her. It's a confident smile. You could be the most beautiful woman in the room, and nobody would pay you any mind if you were insecure and sullen. Once I learned that, I had boys lined outside my door.
From now to the start of school, eat lots of fruits and veggies, lean protein and omega 3's, cut the grease (it makes your skin look icky), and drink a lot of water. Get 30-60 minutes of exercise a day and weight train two days a week. Practice that thousand-watt smile, and journal about the many reasons you have to wear it. You are a young, beautiful individual, and you deserve to live a happy, healthy lifestyle.
Do that for the next three weeks, and you'll look like a whole new person on the first day of school.

Guys and gals, this is probably a troll.
What's a troll?
A fake post created solely to get attention and be obnoxious, or a user who joins a forum / online community to create such posts.
Why are people so insensitive? The young lady is asking for help and
someone is making fun of her grammer? (it must be hard when you are soo
old you forgot about your teen years) Also I didn't know we were
proofreading each others post because boy I have seen some hard to
read/damn right eligible ones. Anyway being a black women myself I can
relate to her as far as what we see as overweight I would say please
take the advice given to you above it was very informative I will also
save the list. Growing up I did not have much healty choices and
understand your confussion on how to lose weight. But if is only
5-10lbs you have to lose you should love your body and embrace your
womanly curves cause god knows tha brothas love it! (sorry thats
ebonics for those of you who don't know it) LOL
amerasmom its always about grammar on here I swear they just sit around finding typo's for fun and making a huge deal out of it on a forum for goodness sake like you said this isnt a formal letter writing contest. These are young girls with real problems that seem huge to them and to us when we were young. People sure do forget on here that these are children and they need guidance and some encouragement not made fun of.
Most of the young people I know communicate with what I call "text
message short-hand", so I'm not going to pester her about spelling and
grammar.
It's possible that she just had another expletive in her post. She's
been edited before for that. Somewhere it must say that we should
refrain from cursing or swearing in our posts. I'm fine with that.
As for the help ihatemybody needs - it could be serious if she's contemplating binging and purging. I'll guess and hope that she doesn't really want to do that - she's just extremely frustrated.
You'll find all kinds of advise on this website. Some things that work for others won't work for you, and vice versa. You just have to find what works for you, but the general nutrition guidelines I've found on this site have been very helpful. If you're not exercising regularly - you need to. If you're not eating right - you need to.
If you keep a food journal for three days in which you write down every single thing you consume including the fat and calories in each item, I'm sure plenty of calorie-count folks will be happy to help you evaluate it. They'll want to know your height, weight, age, and activity level to properly help out with advise. If you start a food journal, also record the time of day you consume each item.
It's all about making a lifestyle change - not going on a diet for a quick fix. You'll want to incorporate healthy choices you can stick with for the rest of your life, and pass on to your little ones when you have children of your own.
I know you can do it.

Whether this post be a troll or not, it just goes to show that our youth have a totally twisted view of what they should look like. I believe we can thank the media for that. As a black woman myself I embrace every curve on my body. That doesn't mean I don't want to get healthy. Just help my curves to look even better. LOL! Hatemybody, I have been a young girl going into HS with body parts expanding where you need no expansion! Love yourself, b/c you only have 1 you to love.
Although it isn't necessary to criticise people's grammar and spelling on the forums, what some teens who have grown up with "text message shorthand" don't realise is that not everyone understands it, and also that there are places where it is appropriate (MySpace, texts to friends) and places where it is not (formal emails and when asking questions on forums where there are likely to be older people who are unfamiliar with that style answering).
I know some of the punctuation-less, run-on posts I come across on this forum or others, usually made by teenagers, are really hard to read and understand, and I am much less likely to bother reading right through or to respond to these posts.
I think it is fair to ask someone to post in normal language that is accessible to everyone rather than abbreviated text message forms, as it shows respect for other people. As a teenager I didn't speak to my older relatives the same way I did to my friends at school, I used less slang and showed more respect (and I am not THAT old, I was a teenager in the 90s!).

I'm 22 years old. The original post was IMPOSSIBLE to understand without spending 10 minutes to decoding it. If people want help, fine, but at least type something comprehensible.
I think giving someone a pass because they're a teenager is stupid. I never wrote like that as a teen, and I think it's terrible that people excuse it now.
