OMG - I think I'm pregnant!
I had to share because now is the time when you really can't tell everyone officially. I figured I'd post here and share a little bit of my joy. First off, I joined this website after Christmas '08 looking to finally get back on track and lose weight. I am 38. I got married last June after being a fiercely independent woman all my life and after having many tearful moments over the years when I truly thought I'd never meet someone and never (sadly) have children. Well, never say never. I met my husband on match.com almost 3 years ago (yes, it can work!). We weren't good about protection most of the time we dated, so I truly thought maybe I couldn't have kids. And I thought all those times I silently said "please don't let me be pregnant" and hoping for my period to come may have caught up with me (karma?). Last month, I went to the gyno and told her I'd like to have kids and she explained about ovulation and how you do have to TRY (lol). Anyhoo, I left it at that and decided I'd at least get healthy first. I have yo yo'd over the years and was at my heaviest. In about 2 months, I've lost 20 lbs, which is awesome. (Still need to lose 30 more, but it can wait.)
Then this past week, my face broke out and I couldn't figure out why. I don't usually get acne. I was also extremely fatigued and VERY conscious of smells. On two days last week, I didn't plan my food well and allowed 5-6 hours to go between my meals and I thought I was going to faint/lose my mind. I became dizzy and very emotional. I burst into tears on both days for pretty much no reason. And my poor husband has been my emotional punching bag (mood swings big time). Finally yesterday, I looked at my journal and realized my period should have come on Feb. 24th -- I have been like clockwork since I was 11. I was 4 days late! I started putting all of the signs together and realized -- OMG! I had an old EPT (from last year) so I used it and it came out positive -- I think. The horizontal line was very light...I wasn't convinced. So my husband went out and bought some First Response tests. Second test came up positive (two dashes), but I still couldn't believe it so I took a third, a digital one. The answer: Yes. !!!!!!!!
I still can't believe it. It seems unreal. I'm ecstatic. I will be making an appointment with my doc just to be sure, but....OMG, I think I'm pregnant! :)
I want to write so much more, but just had to share!!! Thanks for listening.
Thats fantastic...I hope all goes well for you and your husband.
I'm in a similar position; i'm desperate for kids and my husband and i have been trying for nearly 3 years now....i'm hoping that if i lose some weight , that it could help with feritility and my PCOS and hypothyroidism, which I have been told are both playing their part.
Good luck to you both !!!
Congrats!!
I used First responce and with 2 of my 3 pregnancies and they always came back positive!!
Good luck and follow what your body is saying.
Awww that is a truely wonderful story. Cogratulations!!!! Please keep us updated after your Doctor appointment
Doing happy dance for you and your husband Woooooo Hoooooo Yippeeee!!!!!
Woohoo! congrats to you and hubby! ( I think after 3 positive tests it is safe to go ahead and believe it!)
Thanks everyone! I'm still smiling. It feels unreal. I have watched all my friends have kids for the past 15 or so years. As always I'm a late bloomer! But that's OK! LOL...And I had to do 3 because I just couldn't believe it. (Still won't until I see the doc.)
False negatives can occur, but false positives are incredibly rare! Generally if used correctly, self tests are 97% accurrate. I'd bet money on you being pregnant. Congrats!
Congrats, it is ok to celebrate. This is exciting stuff. Make sure to sign up on www.babycenter.com they will send you weekly developmental reports about the baby and your body. They will continue to send after the baby is born with development milestone info. It is really neat and fun.
congrats!!! I also find it hard to believe until the doctor confirms..even after sometimes. Once I get an ultrasound then I finally believe it!
congrats!!!! savor this time in your life. i wish you nothing but an amazing and healthy pregnancy!
